Hello, dear lovely, creative friends on Hive, I hope your day has already started on a bright note. For me, it is, as I have already started working on a sewing project. There is something special about being a creative, putting your heart and hands into bringing to life your creative ideas, makes the day perfect
Sometimes, we don't even mind the passing time and just keep going, at least that is how it is for me when i'm so absorbed in my creativity, it takes the darkening of the day when it is evening for me to realize how much time i've spent, and this one sewing project, a stunning Ankara and Chantilly dress combo, I will be sharing with you today is one of them.
Sometimes, we get so used to making the same style and pattern over and over again that when the urge to create something unique and different comes, we can't resist. I've combined chantilly and ankara fabric before, but never in the way I made this dress. I got inspired by an Instagram fashion designer and thought to recreate mine, hoping that it comes out as expected, maybe even more, and it sure did.
It is projects like this that make me feel blessed to be a designer. So without further ado, let's get right into the making process of my ankara and Chantilly dress combo,
Materials Used
-
Ankara fabric
-
Chantilly lace
-
Matching coloured thread.
Cutting And Sewing Process
- I started by drafting the upper side of the dress, using a bustier pattern. I also cut out the same pattern using the chantilly
- I also cut out the basic back pattern, a combination of both fabrics as well.
- Next, I joined the upper front pattern pieces and turned them using their lining piece
- I also joined the back patterns and turned them in neatly using the lining piece as well
- For the lower part of the dress, I cut out a three-quarter straight skirt pattern
- Then went further to turn them with their lining piece, and joined the front and back by the sides.
- I cut out the desired length of the chantilly, and also gathered it
-
First, I sewed it on the upper marked points on the skirt pattern
-
And also sewed it to the lower part as well
- Finally, I joined the upper part of the dress to the lower skirt part, sewing a zipper to the back, and that completes the bodice making process of this beautiful dress. But I'm not done yet, will surely update you all on the finished look. What type of sleeve would you like on this dress? There might be a little something else. Watch out!
