Ir al médico no es una actividad agradable para nadie, y menos cuando tienes que hacerlo por la vía privada, porque supone planificar muy bien tu presupuesto debido a los altos costes de las consultas, las ecografías y las pruebas de laboratorio. Esta vez me tocó repetir un ecograma transvaginal, ya que en la consulta la doctora observó un pequeño quiste y quería descartar que fuera algo grave.
Going to the doctor is not a pleasant activity for anyone, and even less so when you have to do it privately, because it means planning your budget very well due to the high costs of consultations, ultrasounds and laboratory tests. This time I had to repeat a transvaginal ultrasound, because in the consultation the doctor observed a small cyst and wanted to rule out that it was something serious.
Aunque dudé mucho en hacerlo, decidí que lo mejor era seguir sus recomendaciones, aunque eso implicara gastar más dinero del que tenía previsto. Ya saben: más vale prevenir que lamentar. Quizás pueda sonar tacaña al hacer tanto hincapié en el tema económico, pero en este país cualquier gasto imprevisto puede suponer un gran impacto en la economía.
Although I was very hesitant to do it, I decided that the best thing to do was to follow her recommendations, even if it meant spending more money than I had planned. You know: better safe than sorry. It may sound stingy to put so much emphasis on the economic issue, but in this country any unforeseen expense can have a big impact on the economy.
Lo bueno es que todo salió bien, el quiste desapareció y eso indica que estoy sana. También aproveché para hacerme mi primera ecografía mamaria, ya que la doctora me dijo que ya me correspondía por edad. Adivinen: eso también supuso un gasto adicional, ja, ja, ja. Pero todo salió muy bien también, así que solo puedo dar gracias a Dios.
The good thing is that everything went well, the cyst disappeared and that indicates that I am healthy. I also took the opportunity to have my first breast ultrasound, since the doctor told me that I was due for it because of my age. Guess what: that also meant an additional expense, ha, ha, ha, ha. But everything went very well too, so I can only thank God.
Como llegamos temprano a la clínica, no tuvimos tiempo de desayunar, por lo que, al terminar, fuimos a nuestro restaurante chino favorito. Después de recuperar fuerzas, aprovechamos para ir al supermercado y abastecer nuestra despensa. Pasamos buena parte del día fuera de casa, pero llegamos contentos, porque tener salud es un regalo y tener esa tranquilidad no tiene comparación.
Since we arrived early at the clinic, we didn't have time for breakfast, so when we finished, we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant. After regaining our strength, we took the opportunity to go to the supermarket and stock up our pantry. We spent a good part of the day away from home, but we arrived home happy, because being healthy is a gift and having that peace of mind is incomparable.
