On Saturday morning I was up around 6AM and got the cat fed and sat down to do my post. Once that was done, I got a load in the dishwasher and sat down for a while.
I finally made it out to the gardens by 9AM and decided to put some of the labels I had made up. Then I went to the cold frames to find what I needed to plant in Row 6 of the New Herb garden.
I hadn’t been out in the gardens since September 5th. It’s been a rough couple of weeks but I’m past them now and trying to move on.
It turned out to be 3 full trays of stuff! I planted:
13 thyme plants 3 marigolds 3 Tulsi basil 9 calendula 8 heliotrope 9 toothache plants
I was surprised at how much I had to plant in this one row, and the fact they were still alive. Most weren’t in very good shape, but if we don’t get frost until the end of October, as has happened for the last 5+ years, they might still do something or get established.
I also did some weeding on the last 3 rows.
I finished planting around 11:30AM and was too tired to start mulching. So I got my photos, made my notes and cleaned up.
I was too tired to get a shower and just had some lunch and dozed on the couch in front of Big Bang Theory all the rest of the day.
On Sunday I have to mow the yard and at the barn as it’s been 2 weeks now. We got some rain this week and the grass grew a little. But more important, leaves have started to fall. If I don’t keep the grass mown, it will be pretty hard to get the leaves up later. Once I finish mowing around the New Herb garden, I have to remember to put on the sprinklers. I should have done it on Saturday but I forgot.
No event in the afternoon on Sunday. So I can rest up in the afternoon.
