East Shed garden – heliotrope and begonias (Taken by Tom)
Saturday was pretty much a washout. It was a gorgeous day but I got nothing done except read, watch videos and sleep. Oh, I made 2 posts.
On Sunday I was up at 5AM and got a load in the dishwasher. I picked up some of the mess in the kitchen and got a shower. I was sitting down when Tom arrived at 8AM. We talked for a while then I went out to harvest the broccoli before he did the foliar.

I got about ¾ of it cut up and soaking before I had to sit down again. He went out to start doing the foliar spraying. He got lots of photos.
When I got up again, I picked up the swag we’d done on Friday and the sunflower I needed to repair and took them to the kitchen. Then I spent the next hour or so, off and on, looking for my hot glue gun. I think it’s supposed to be next to the tool box, but I could not find it anywhere in the house. Tom even looked but nothing. So I ended up putting the swag up without the flower. I kept hoping I’d come across it somewhere, but not so far…
I finally got the broccoli done and soaking and left it until 12:30PM.
Blanching it goes pretty quickly and I soon had 6 meals for the freezer. Not many worms/insects and most were very small. Some of the side shoots were as big as regular heads of broccoli.
By the time I got cleaned up and another load in the dishwasher, I was finished for the day. I was back on the couch watching Big Bang Theory until bedtime.
Tom is particularly taken with the blue shading of this delphinium. He likes how it turns pink as it ages, like borage does.
The trees have started to really turn by this last day of summer. Hard to believe the Autumn Solstice is at 2:19PM on Monday.
On Monday I have laundry to do, a kitchen to clean up, lots of photos to edit, and if I have the energy, I need to finish Row 7 in the New Herb garden.
