So we left on Sunday afternoon to head to Lilacland about 2PM.
Lilacland belongs to an artist and my friend wanted to check out the paintings and woodworking. So we did that first.
But when we first entered the grounds, we were stunned by the giant dogwood trees in full bloom.
There are so many varieties of lilacs on the grounds and while I loved this color, some of them like this had a nice scent and some not much at all.
We found most of the white ones didn’t have much scent, but this one was the exception.
We had climbed to the top of the property because we heard music. But they stopped playing just as we got there, so we had gone in to see the paintings. I took this of the dogwoods from the top of the property.
My friend has a twice blooming lilac that looked just like this one, with the 2 tone colors and small size. We wondered if it was the same variety.
The property has many nooks and crannies with lilacs, redbuds, apple trees, and these birches.
I also liked the pink ones. They mostly all seemed to have a light floral sort of lilac scent.
This one of the huge white buds didn’t come out very well. We had a lovely time wandering through the various areas and smelling every likely looking lilac. It’s such a heavenly smell!
We left after an hour or so and on the way back we stopped at my friend’s mom’s gravesite. She had selected a stone bench and it was a lovely place to sit and talk. My friend told me about the process of deciding what would be on the stone. It’s under a lovely large tree with plenty of shade and a nice view.
From there we meandered back to my place. I was pretty tired from so much standing and walking. So the trellis didn’t get made.
On Monday I have to clone myself because I have 2 sets of helpers coming and am supposed to be working in both places. I probably will stay with the new house cleaners to make sure a deep cleaning to my standards happens. My general helper knows what has to be done in the Small garden and can work on her own. I’ll go out and help her when the housecleaners leave at 11AM. That ought to finish me off but good.
