On Sunday morning I was up around 6AM, fed the cat and got my post up. Then I got the kitchen all cleaned up and sat down for a while. Tom arrived around 8AM to do the foliar, but we talked for ½ hour.
I finally got out to start the mowing around 9AM.
Tom got this of me heading to the barn to mow
It was a pain in the beginning but by 9:30AM the grass had dried some and it was still pretty short after 2 weeks, and the chute to the bagger stopped plugging up. I finished all the mowing, even the barn, in 3 hours.

I went out to get some photos and ended up picking a second harvest of Juneberries. Tom helped me get the netting back on as there’s still a lot to ripen. I got them washed and into the freezer later. Tom harvested the 2 cantaloupes and took one home. He also harvested a bunch of the Anne raspberries and a big paper grocery bag of basil.
I’m thinking of making quince jelly and trying out the pectin…
Red poison ivy along the driveway
Tom found a lot of cool critters when he was doing the foliar. There was also a green frog in the comfrey. He sent me his photos and I was surprised to see the bald eagle. He got that when I was moving chairs back under the trees.
The artichokes I left too long last weekend have started to open into flowers. I’ve seen several snakes, or the same snake several times, this summer.
I finally got inside around 12:30PM. Tom came in and changed out the batteries to the smoke detectors. The blue blinking one he was able to stop the blinking/blue. So hopefully the smoke detectors are good for another couple years.
I got a shower and rested for a while, then got some lunch.
The last classical concert was Sunday afternoon. The couple have been playing for this series for at least 15 years. They are originally from Bulgaria and play there and in the US each year.
My friend who brings me got a handful of kale when she dropped me off. Back when I had the farm stand, she always got a lot of kale.
I sat down and watched Big Bang Theory until bedtime.
On Monday I hope to get out in the New Herb garden and at least get Row 6 finished. I also need to harvest more tomatoes. Tom said the broccoli is nearly ready again too. We’ll see how I am doing on Monday morning.
