Kousa dogwood
On Saturday I wasn’t up until 6AM. I got the cat fed and my post up. (Check the leaves on the ground. I NEED to mow.)

We had a mild frost during the night and I got some photos.

The cabbages are growing near the calendula so I got a photo with my big foot for scale. I’m waiting as long as I can before turning them into sauerkraut.

Back inside, I got the dehydrator unloaded and put away. I got half a quart of parsley from that one plant. I got a shower and got ready to go out.

I had to go to the ATM for cash to pay my window guy and saw a tag sale on the way home. I found a sweatshirt that I badly needed and a DVD by a local wild foods person. Not bad for $4.50!
Once home, I got a load in the dishwasher then went upstairs to get set up for window washing. We had 2 big windows, 4 medium, 4 small, and an awning window to do.

Trashed office for window washing
I sat down for a while and at 11AM I got up and got the back porch set up for washing. My window guy arrived at 12:45PM and we got the 2 big windows upstairs done first. Then we got the 4 medium windows done.
I found out he was only staying 2 hours, not 4, so we quickly got the awning window done and he left. I’d hoped to finish the second floor but I was too worn out.

I sat down for 15 minutes and the contractor arrived. He was starting the left side of the front porch. This side wasn’t as bad with rotting. Mostly just the top 2” x 4” and the end of the bottom one.
But when he went to cut the post boards we got a surprise.

Front porch build July 2020
I’d forgotten that my husband was originally going to trim the porch with the aluminum siding. But he really didn’t like how it came out. So he got some boards from the guy on Horse Mountain and put those over the aluminum. That may be why this side wasn’t so bad.
The contractor was able to get all the boards on the bottom on, but one needed to be cut down, so he took that with him. He’ll be back on Sunday to get some more done.
I was really tired and got some supper made, both stoves going and the shades pulled. My sister called and we discussed Christmas presents until I headed to bed at 8PM.
On Sunday I have mowing to do and I hope to finish the 2nd floor windows as there are only 4 little ones. And the contractor will be back.
