Farming the Future: When Technology Meets Our Stomach

Personally, I love food so much, and looking at the place I also come from, I can say that we do not play with food because it is part of our identity, our belief, and our celebration signature, from Amala to Nigerian party jollof rice during important celebrations and to fast food like garri that has been saving lives since 1900, so I will say that food is not just meant for surviving.  Still, when we talk about agriculture, it feeds our emotions and not only our bodies, and with this, farming is not an easy work to do, especially when it comes to large-scale farming where some of these big machines are required to make the work very easy to do, and when we look at the tools required to harvest those farm products and make irrigation, food becomes very expensive for common men. I remember when I was serving, the department where I was serving had plenty of acres of land where they could easily grow crops in large quantities, but when I asked my boss, he said there is no machine to clear the land for easy cultivation, which means the land is just there. And on the other hand, we embrace foods from the northern part of this country, and when we look at the cost of those foods being transported to our side, it makes them become more expensive, leaving some homes to struggle for food before they eat.  And this is where technology comes in as a great game changer. Take, for instance, all these farmers have a mobile app that links them directly to the people who are in need of their farm products without any second party. Newly harvested and processed cashew nuts from Oyo to Kaduna, freshly harvested yams from Abuja to Sokoto, and other fresh farm products to our doorstep at a good price. And the app used can also give stars on how good the products of farmers are and recommend them to other buyers. I will just call the app Farm2Doormat.
