As humans, we do not have the ability to stop bad things from happening, even the mighty apostle Paul was unable. It only takes the grace of God to stop bad things from happening.
Even right from the creation of the first man and woman on the surface of the world, it has become so difficult for me to comply with the wills of God and that is why they were deceived to eat the forbidden fruit. It is in human nature to disobey. Which is the reason why Paul the apostle who was formally known as Saul was unable to stop his former way of life even though he wanted but he kept on returning to it untill God appeared to him.
` Romans 7:19;"For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do"20:"Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me." `
Because sins still dwell in us, it will be very difficult to do the will of God, even though you might want to stop, you will still find yourself struggling with such sin. However, the only way to free yourself is by turning to God, confess your sins and ask him to be your saviour.
After this, you have to be baptised and renew yourself as a new creature in Christ. Temptation to go back to those sins might arrive but you need to stay focus because your sins have been washed away by the precious blood of Jesus and you are renewed by the power of the Holy Ghost.
