While I was growing up, I had an advantage that shaped the path of how I live a life, although I didn't fully appreciate until much later. I didn't know I had a stable home, I had a parent that was supporting me, I had access to information that most people could not and also a safe space.
Those were gifts I usually took for granted and thought it was nothing, but it is easy to look at someone else struggling and think why can't they figure things out, why are they suffering, where there are a lot of opportunities. But life has taught me that we don't have to believe in others because we don't know what they are passing through.
The real challenge is that we have to develop the courage to empower and encourage and lead others to discover who they weren't or what they are missing or what they can be in the future. I remember during my college days, my friend Sarah would join our team. She was always quite hesitant and same over and over.
The environment, it was not easy for her and she always felt that she was not alone. She was always there for me. She was always there for me. Left that and when it was time to get the job done she could not handle it fully. Although she was such an intelligent girl, but something stopped maybe it was the memory of our early days.
Instead of criticizing those mistakes I have to start small now then I asked for opinion, doing meetings or those little things to show that the voice mattered. I share tips, experiences as someone who has been there sometimes. We'll talk about our goals to encourage this challenges until I see if you've got this. Sometimes I screamed and slowly she started to believe in herself and the courage was beginning to show up and she was doing well.
One day sarah met me doing a presentation in her class something she had once never done but had the course and opted to be a group leader. I was so surprised watching her standing delivering the topic with confidence. I felt a pride at least we helped someone talking about me but about seeing how to becoming the best version of ourselves.
That's something that's the lesson that hits me hard. Leadership is not about being hilarious or being the most being controlling or arrogant it's about trying to lift up others stepping up and making sure that they become the best version of yourself.
When we empower people, it is always easy for them to in life and to appreciate us for helping them. One will take patience listen and let go of our ego but when you see someone transform then you can find out that they're surprised with their own strength. It's not what every second i've learned that this advantage don't make better.
There are just a possibility to help others find their way and when you do so don't discover a purpose that is greater than any wind. So the joy is to help people become a better version of their self. So this is an important reflection of myself.
