Brother Eli's teaching on the challenges we face in understanding the Bible poses a problem that we often overlook as believers. We should know that the Word of God is not a mere book that we just read, but it's a book we need to study to get divine revelation and this requires strong spiritual wisdom and understanding.
In the book of Isaiah 29:11-12 where the Bible is spiritual book and without God's intervention, it is unreadable to both the learned and those who are unlearned also. This underscores that human intelligence is not enough to understand the Bible alone.
We need spiritual guidance to help us and in the future they said the learned may say I cannot for it is sealed. While the unlearned also can admit that I'm not learned to be able to read this book. Both people are humbled because before God's Word, they didn't have spiritual or divine guidance to help them navigate through the Word of God.
Brother Eli is trying to illustrate that. In the book of 2 Corinthians chapter 4 vs 4, we hear Satan has decided to blind believers from seeing the light. Though there is a spiritual battle going on, which explains the reason why even the most educated minds still don't have the spiritual knowledge to understand the biblical truth.
In the book of Daniel 12:9-10, there is also an important reality that even the wicked shall not understand, even the wise too shall not understand. So when we talk about understanding the word of God, it is not about being intellectual. It's about having spiritual discernment and seeking for divine guidance when studying the word of God.
When we truly understand this, that understanding the word of God is just a result of the God-fearing, those that are purified and all that is chosen by him.
This message is challenging us to keep seeking God's wisdom humbly. And when we recognize that understanding the word of God is a gift and not by the story of the Bible. But by the strength of human or their intellects, then we begin to seek divine guidance when it comes to studying the word of God.
