$2 big breakfast in my hood in Da Nang

If I ever have a chance to have a breakfast for $2 I will normally pass because the assumption is that it is either going to be super small, or it is going to be terrible.

Well, I can't really say that this breakfast was out of this world or anything but I do know myself and I know that I don't normally really care what I have to eat first thing in the morning as over the years I have become and coffee guy who doesn't even pay any attention to food until sometime in the afternoon.

Well there is this "beef place" that opened up across the street from my condo about a month ago and today I decided to go there after my usual coffee shop had more than 4 customers and for that tiny-ass shop, it means it is going to take ages to get any service.

I have to say I was really impressed with this beef place especially given the price.

One thing I can say about this place is that they really don't have much of a focus on making you feel welcome. I don't think so much as a wave or a hello was said to me the entire time I was there. Normally I at least expect them to come and say hello to Nadi but that didn't happen either.

it was just the usual putting of the menu in front of you and then the waitress standing there making you feel uncomfortable while you are expected to order immediately even though I haven't even had a chance to read the menu.

All this is, is some eggs, a couple types of meat and a bit of veg on a hot plate. The coffee is a standard sweetened Vietnamese style coffee which means it probably contains about twice to three times as much caffeine in it than a person should have all at once.

Given how I am not at all fussy about what I eat in the morning and how I am merely just looking to have SOMETHING, this actually hit the spot. Nadi was happy with it as well because since it is just bread and a bit of sausage, I know that her super sensitive stomach can take it.

I got the bill after eating (had to chase down a waitress to get this to happen and she didn't say a single word to me the entire time) paid the 55,000 VND (about $2) and was on my way. I did not tip not just because it is not the culture here but good lord woman, you could at least make a little bit of effort to be somewhat friendly.

I will likely return to this place because since it seems that nobody goes there, I will never have to wait for food and since the coffee that I normally get from my local and completely-unable-to-handle-any-level-of-customers-all-at-once establishment costs 50k on its own, well there is no reason to not do this.

Plus that caffeine shot is no joke. I took Nadi on a 40 minute walk right afterwards and am now at my desk in my condo still shaking a bit from the after effects.

I would tell you the name of the place but honestly, just look for any place that is selling something called Bo Ne and it will likely be very similar. Plus, this place isn't likely to be in business anymore by the time you get there. Their profit margins have to be damn near zero and their lack of friendliness means there isn't much reason for repeat customers on that side of things.
