Hello there! Welcome to my blog, it's going to be an interesting one i promise. Just read through.
Food has a way making us feel so excited , and for me, one of those dishes that makes me feel That way is Abacha — also known as African salad. It’s a traditional delicacy made from cassava, and it’s always been one of my favorites.
Recently, I decided to prepare it myself, and the experience was so awesome that I promised never to buy it outside again. Homemade always hits differently!
So here are the ingredients I used:
Red oil (palm oil)
Ash water (for that authentic traditional taste)
Salt 🧂
Seasoning cube
Crayfish 🦐
Oil bean (ugba)
Fresh garden egg leaves
The dry cassava.
How I prepared it
First I soaked the cassava flakes in a hot water unit it becomes soften, then I drained and set it aside. Next, in a bow i mixed palm oil with ash's water instill it turns into bright yellowish paste. This mixture is the main point of the African salad. I then added my season, salt, crayfish, pepper.
Oil bean and onion
I then.stair it and added the oil bean, onion to give it that freshness it deserves. Finally, I poured in the softened abacha flakes and mixed everything thoroughly. I then added the garden egg leaves.
Garden egg leaves And just like that I finally made my favorite local dish. The taste was so refreshing and satisfying, I realized I may never buy it outside again. There’s something about preparing food with your own hands it carries love, patience, and pride.
Final look after preparing.
Abacha is more than just food it’s culture, and memory served in a bowl.
