Hi friends, I hope you're doing well. Today I'm here to show you a drawing I made yesterday, but for different reasons, I couldn't post it. This time, I'm continuing with the theme of drawing chess pieces. Today, I'm presenting the Bishop, or as it's called in Spanish, the "Alfil."
The name of this piece is particular because "ALFIL" has an Arabic origin, meaning "ELEPHANT." When it arrived in Europe, the Spanish kept the piece's original name, but in other regions of the world, its name changed. In English, it's called "BISHOP," since the piece resembles a miter, the hat worn by bishops. In French, it's called "FOU," which means "JESTER," and in German, it's known as "LÄUFER," which means "RUNNER." This name makes more sense when you see how it moves on the board by controlling the diagonals of the color it is on.
The name "JESTER" also fits, as in royal courts, jesters are usually very close to the king and queen to entertain them, and on the board, this piece is placed next to each of them, respectively. Bishops cannot change the color on which they start; bishops on black squares cannot move to white ones and vice versa. They also cannot jump over pieces and their movement is limited by the first piece they encounter in their path. Their value is equal to that of the knight, at 3 points.
I wanted to draw this piece with a long-range weapon like a crossbow, since it can capture or "kill" a piece from corner to corner.

Hola amigos, espero esten bien hoy vengo a mostrarles un dibujo que hice ayer pero por diferentes razones no pude publicarlo, esta vez sigo con la tematica de dibujar piezas de ajedrez, esta vez vengo con el Alfil o como le dicen en ingles, Bishop.
el nombre de esta pieza es particular, porque "ALFIL" tiene origen arabe que significa "ELEFANTE" y cuando llego a europa, los españoles mantuvieron el nombre original de la pieza pero en otras regiones del mundo cambio sunombre, en ingles se le llama "BISHOP" que significa "OBISPO" ya que la pieza recuerda al la mitra, el gorro de los obispos, en frances se llama "FOU" que es "BUFON" y en aleman se le conoce como "LÄUFER" que significa corredor, este nombre tiene mas logica cuando vez como se mueve en el tablero al controlar las diagonales del color en la que se encuentre.
El nombre de BUFON tambien le queda ya que en las ordenes reales, los bufones suelen estar muy cerca del rey y la reina para entretenerlos y en el tablero, esta pieza esta al lado de cada uno respectivamente, los alfiles no pueden cambiar el color en el que empiezan, los alfiles de casillas negras no pueden cambiar a las blancas y viseversa, tampoco pueden saltar sobre piezas, estan limitadas en movimientopor la primera pieza que se encuentren en su movimiento y su valor es igual al del caballo, de 3 puntos.
Quise dibujar esta pieza con un arma de largo alcance como la ballesta, ya que puede capturar o "matar" a una pieza de esquina a esquina.
In this example, we can see all the squares it can control from that position. When well-positioned, it can be a very powerful piece, and if you manage to reach the endgame with both pieces, it would be an easy game to win.
En este ejemplo podemos ver todas las casillas que pueden controlar desde esa posicion, bien posicionado puede llegar a ser una pieza muy poderosa, y si en el endgame logras llegar con las dos piezas seria una partida facil de ganar.
