La educación integral busca formar seres humanos conscientes y empáticos. Por eso, en medio de las actividades de inicio de curso, dedicamos una sesión especial a fortalecer el corazón y las palabras.

Aunque el cielo decidió darnos un concierto de gotas desde las 6:00 de la mañana, la energía dentro de nuestro salón de clases a las 7:00 am me impresiono al llegar. Con una matrícula de 23 estudiantes, la lluvia matutina hizo que finalmente asistieran 13 valientes niños.

A continuación, te comparto la actividad Asociando Emociones y Palabras, que realizamos hoy con éxito, con mi grupo de 3er grado:

Título de la actividad: Asociando Emociones y Palabras. Edad/Nivel: 3er Grado de Educación Primaria. Áreas de aprendizaje integradas: Educación Emocional y Lenguaje (Lectoescritura). Habilidades trabajadas: Reconocimiento emocional, empatía, expresión oral, deletreo, asociación palabra-imagen, vocabulario. Materiales necesarios: Hojas de papel, lápices de colores, tarjetas o cartulinas, marcador, cinta adhesiva. Tiempo estimado: 45-60 minutos.

Diálogo Guiado y Expresión Oral

La actividad comenzó con una ronda de preguntas sencillas pero profundas, diseñadas para fomentar la expresión de emociones en niños. ¿Qué emociones te hacen sentir como si volaras por los aires?, ¿Y cuáles son esas que sentimos como una pesada mochila

"La alegría es como comer mi helado favorito", dijo uno. "El enojo me da cuando mi hermanito desordena mis cosas" compartió otro.

Luego, dimos un paso más hacia la empatía: ¿Y cómo vemos a nuestros seres queridos? ¿Qué emoción creen que prevalece en mamá, papá o abuelita?

Fue maravilloso escuchar cómo estos 13 pequeños grandes observadores comenzaban a reflexionar sobre los estados emocionales de su grupo familiar, entendiendo que los adultos también sentimos tristeza, cansancio o una inmensa felicidad.

Posteriormente cada uno de los 13 niños dibujó dos expresiones a manera de emoji; una que les gusta sentir y otra que no les gusta tanto. Este ejercicio no solo potenció la creatividad, sino que les permitió materializar emociones abstractas, un paso crucial para su reconocimiento.

Integración con el Lenguaje-El Desafío del Deletreo

Aquí es donde la actividad integró perfectamente el área de lenguaje. Con los dibujos terminados, les pedí un favor especial: ¡Necesito que me ayuden a deletrear estas emociones! Voy a escribir la palabra correcta en pequeños carteles

En este grupo de 13 estudiantes, durante mi diagnostico obtengo que solo 9 leen de forma silábica, el resto solo reconoce todas las letras del abecedario. Por lo tanto, debo trabajar muchísimo el área de lenguaje durante este año escolar.

Entonces el deletreo fue un ejercicio para ellos que finalmente lograron: "A-L-E-G-R-I-A", "T-R-I-S-T-E-Z-A", "E-N-O-J-O". Rápidamente, escribí cada palabra en mis carteles y las pegué en diferentes lugares de las paredes del aula.

La Búsqueda del Tesoro - Asociando Imagen y Palabra

Llegó el momento culminante de la actividad. Cada uno de los 13 niños, turnándose, mostraba su "emoji" al grupo. Y la consigna era buscar en la pared la palabra que definía exactamente la emoción que habían dibujado.

Es decir, estaban asociando el concepto con la palabra escrita, y validando su propia experiencia emocional.

Un Día que Demostró que el Sol brilla, aunque llueva

Sentirnos humanos es parte de educarnos, ¡Un día verdaderamente exitoso!

Comprehensive education seeks to develop conscious and empathetic human beings. Therefore, amidst the beginning-of-year activities, we dedicated a special session to strengthening the heart and the spirit.

Although the sky decided to give us a raindrop concert starting at 6:00 a.m., the energy inside our classroom at 7:00 a.m. impressed me upon arrival. With an enrollment of 23 students, the morning rain finally ensured that 13 brave children attended.

Below, I'm sharing the activity "Associating Emotions and Words," which we successfully completed today with my 3rd grade group:

Activity Title: Associating Emotions and Words. Age/Level: 3rd Grade Elementary School. Integrated Learning Areas: Emotional Education and Language (Literacy). Skills Worked On: Emotional Recognition, Empathy, Oral Expression, Spelling, Word-Image Association, Vocabulary. Materials Needed: Sheets of paper, colored pencils, cards or poster board, marker, tape. Estimated Time: 45-60 minutes.

Guided Dialogue and Oral Expression

The activity began with a round of simple yet insightful questions, designed to encourage children to express their emotions. What emotions make you feel like you're flying through the air? And which ones feel like a heavy backpack?

"Happiness is like eating my favorite ice cream," said one. "I get angry when my little brother messes up my things," shared another.

Then, we took a step further toward empathy: And how do we view our loved ones? What emotion do you think prevails in Mom, Dad, or Grandma?

It was wonderful to hear how these 13 great little observers began to reflect on the emotional states of their family group, understanding that adults also feel sadness, tiredness, or immense happiness.

Later, each of the 13 children drew two emoji-like expressions; one they like to feel and another they don't like as much. This exercise not only boosted their creativity but also allowed them to materialize abstract emotions, a crucial step for their recognition.

Language Integration - The Spelling Challenge

This is where the activity perfectly integrated the language area. With the drawings finished, I asked them for a special favor:

I need your help spelling these emotions!

I'm going to write the correct word on small signs.

In this group of 13 students, during my assessment, I found that only 9 read syllabic words; the rest only recognized all the letters of the alphabet. Therefore, I need to work a lot on language arts this school year.

So spelling was an exercise for them, which they finally mastered: "H-I-L-Y," "S-A-D-I-N-G," "A-N-G-Y." Quickly, I wrote each word on my posters and posted them in different places on the classroom walls.

The Treasure Hunt - Matching Images and Words

The culminating moment of the activity arrived. Each of the 13 children, taking turns, showed their emoji to the group. The task was to find the word on the wall that exactly defined the emotion they had drawn.

In other words, they were associating the concept with the written word, validating their own emotional experience.

A Day That Proved the Sun Shines, Even When It Rains
