Hello Alien Art #Hive friends!... Last month, I participated in a digital art competition organized by Cultura Nouns, an international community that has established itself as a reference in the world of digital art, collaborative creativity, and web3. The goal of this competition was not only to award ten winners with cryptocurrency prizes, but above all to encourage artistic production, create space for new visual voices, and further strengthen the presence of digital art in an increasingly connected global landscape.

No mês passado participei de uma competição de arte digital organizada pela Cultura Nouns, uma comunidade internacional que vem se consolidando como referência no universo da arte digital, da criatividade colaborativa e da web3. O objetivo dessa competição não era apenas premiar dez vencedores com recompensas em criptomoedas, mas sobretudo incentivar a produção artística, abrir espaço para novas vozes visuais e fortalecer ainda mais a presença da arte digital em um cenário global cada vez mais conectado.

The experience of participating in this competition was unique. When I submitted my work, I knew it wasn't just about competing for a prize, but about engaging in dialogue with other artists, with different styles and narratives, all united by the same desire to create. Cultura Nouns stands out precisely for this: it values diversity, allows for experimentation, and, above all, believes that digital art can be a language that transcends geographic and cultural boundaries.

My contribution was a work that blends animal strength with digital aesthetics. I chose to represent a gorilla, a symbol of power, endurance, and raw energy, but I also incorporated elements of Noun culture, such as the iconic red pixelated glasses, which directly evoke the movement and its striking aesthetic. This combination sought to create a visual tension: on one side, wild and primitive nature; on the other, digital and decentralized culture, representing innovation and transformation. This fusion is not only visual, but conceptual. The gorilla embodies ancestry and instinctive strength, while the Nouns glasses represent the new era, the disruptive present, and the digital future.
> Minha participação se deu com uma obra que mistura a força animal com a estética digital. Escolhi representar um gorila, símbolo de potência, resistência e energia bruta, mas inseri nele elementos da cultura nounish, como os icônicos óculos pixelados em vermelho, que remetem diretamente ao movimento e sua estética marcante. Essa combinação buscava criar uma tensão visual: de um lado, a natureza selvagem e primitiva; do outro, a cultura digital e descentralizada, que representa inovação e transformação. Essa fusão não é apenas visual, mas conceitual. O gorila carrega em si a ancestralidade e a força instintiva, enquanto os óculos Nouns representam a nova era, o presente disruptivo e o futuro digital.

A detail that makes this competition even more special is the destination reserved for the winning artworks: the ten selected will be printed on surfboards. This broadens the reach of art, taking it beyond the digital realm and inserting it into the physical, sporting, and cultural worlds. The surfboard, besides being a usable object, is also a symbol of freedom, balance, and connection with nature. Thus, the initiative creates a very interesting dialogue between digital art and surf culture, uniting the energy of the sea with the vibrant aesthetic of the Nouns universe. It's as if art, previously restricted to the screen, gains movement on the waves, transforming into a living experience.
Um detalhe que torna essa competição ainda mais especial é o destino reservado às artes vencedoras: as dez selecionadas serão estampadas em pranchas de surf. Isso amplia o alcance da arte, levando-a para além do ambiente digital e inserindo-a no universo físico, esportivo e cultural. A prancha de surf, além de ser um objeto de uso, é também um símbolo de liberdade, equilíbrio e conexão com a natureza. Assim, a iniciativa cria um diálogo muito interessante entre a arte digital e a cultura do surf, unindo a energia do mar com a estética vibrante do universo Nouns. É como se a arte, antes restrita à tela, ganhasse movimento sobre as ondas, transformando-se em experiência viva.

Although I wasn't one of the winners, I consider my participation a victory in itself. Being in a space where art is celebrated not for its conventionality, but for its boldness, was already an achievement. Every comment I received, every interaction with other artists, every opportunity to share my vision with a global community was part of a learning experience and a personal and artistic growth..
Embora eu não tenha sido um dos vencedores, considero a participação uma vitória em si. Estar em um espaço onde a arte é celebrada não pelo convencional, mas pela ousadia, já foi uma conquista. Cada comentário recebido, cada interação com outros artistas, cada oportunidade de expor minha visão para uma comunidade global foi parte de um aprendizado e de um crescimento pessoal e artístico.
The competition also sparked reflections on the role of digital art in today's world. In a context where we live increasingly connected lives, art ceases to be merely an object of contemplation and becomes a tool for interaction, belonging, and cultural identity. The fact that the prizes are in cryptocurrency reinforces the idea that we are facing a new creative economy, where symbolic and digital value go hand in hand. And the fact that the winning works became surfboard prints demonstrates how digital art can transcend the virtual realm and materialize into tangible, functional, and cultural experiences.
A competição também trouxe reflexões sobre o papel da arte digital no mundo atual. Em um contexto onde cada vez mais vivemos conectados, a arte deixa de ser apenas objeto de contemplação para se tornar também ferramenta de interação, de pertencimento e de identidade cultural. O fato de a premiação ser em criptomoedas reforça essa ideia de que estamos diante de uma nova economia criativa, onde o valor simbólico e o valor digital caminham lado a lado. E o fato de as obras vencedoras se tornarem estampas de pranchas de surf mostra como a arte digital pode ultrapassar o campo virtual e se materializar em experiências tangíveis, funcionais e culturais.
Participating in this championship showed me that digital art is more than just images created on a screen: it's a form of resistance, collective expression, and creative freedom. It's a space where everyone can connect, regardless of physical boundaries, and where new aesthetics can emerge from the blending of cultures, symbols, and references. Therefore, even without winning a prize, I left the competition feeling like I was part of something bigger. Cultura Nouns offered not just a championship, but a fertile environment for exchange, learning, and the strengthening of a community that believes in the power of digital art as a universal language. And for me, that was already a true achievement.
Participar desse campeonato me mostrou que a arte digital é mais do que imagens criadas em tela: é uma forma de resistência, de expressão coletiva e de liberdade criativa. É um espaço onde todos podem se conectar, independente de fronteiras físicas, e onde novas estéticas podem nascer a partir da mistura de culturas, símbolos e referências. Portanto, mesmo sem ter levado um prêmio, saí da competição com a sensação de ter feito parte de algo maior. A Cultura Nouns ofereceu não apenas um campeonato, mas um ambiente fértil para trocas, aprendizados e para o fortalecimento de uma comunidade que acredita no poder da arte digital como linguagem universal. E para mim, isso já foi uma verdadeira conquista.
