Camping in September

I have always loved camping. Been doing that for a long time but mostly in summer. Last year was the first time when I went camping alone in the forest, during the fall. This year we want to try camping more in the colder times too with girlfriend and camping in september counts as a colder month? Here in Estonia I think it does. So I just wanted to make a post about camping here in September. I didnt take a lot of photos of the place but here are some. FRS_8717.jpg

This campsite is located literally in a middle of nowhere, in central Estonia. Next to a gravel road that leads to nowhere. Nobody living anywhere around for kilometers. The campsite was at the side of the forest. Otherwise it's a campsite like any other state maintained campsites we have here in Estonia but there was only one place like this. We occupied this one for the night.

There is a table with roof, a fire place and an outhouse. We put a tent to about 10 meters away in the forest, you can see in the first photo.

Overall the experience didn't differ too much from camping in the summer because the weather happened to be quite great. About 17 degrees C in the daytime and temps dropped to around 9 degrees C at night. We stayed up until 1 at night, had a drink and enjoyed the fire.

The biggest difference was the darkness. Ours summers are full of daylight and nights don't really even get fully dark. It's always more to do when it's bright outside. Now the sun went down around 19.30 after which we sat in the dark. This is my biggest worry about camping outside the summer season. As the time goes by, days will get darker very quickly and it means sitting in the dark a lot more.

We loved the spot. It was very secluded, extremely quiet and dark. It gave an interesting vibe which we liked. However my girlfriend got a bit spooked for every natural sound coming from the forest. She said that she would like a bit more ambient sound. Be it sea or wind or something but at the time we had neither.

We have plans to go camping again in a week or so. Then the sun will go down around 18.20 already and it's a lot cooler. I have camped with 6 degrees C temps and it was quite chilly. Currently our nights even go to 0 degrees C so yeah. Remains to be seen what the weather will do, but we will be prepared. We thought about camping every month throught winter too, but yeah... Right now it's just the idea. Let's first try to camp through october. I will make a post how did it go after it's done.
