Some days come and go but some times engrave themselves greatly into our hearts. The moments spent with the people we love, draped in laughter, venture and simple joy. Our stumble to Magikland was one of those moments. It wasn’t intended and maybe that’s why it ended up to be special. It became more than just a family jaunt, it was a day full of cherished memories with our dearest granddaughter. A day we will permanently hold close, especially because we knew our time with her in the Philippines was short. We wanted to gather as many remembrances as we could and this mystic escapade gifted us exactly that. It all began so simply. One afternoon, we were just driving around the city with no special plan just enjoying being together. But then out of nowhere, my husband said, let’s go to Silay City. Let’s visit Magikland. We thought he was joking but when he revolved the car and headed toward the highway we realized it was really happening. Excitement filled the car. The kids were smiling and suddenly the day had a purpose to make memories.

When Magikland finally came into view. We were astonished by how wide and beautiful it was. Since it was a weekday there were only a few visitors which was perfect for us because it meant shorter lines and more fun. Without wasting time, my husband went straight to the booth and bought unlimited ride passes for us all. So we could make the most of every attraction. Magikland seems like entering into a storybook. There was a fanciful structures looking like something from an enchanted kingdom. The designs were detailed and full of fantasy. Even as grown ups, we were amazed, but the pure wonder in our granddaughter’s eyes made it even more special. Her little mouth formed an “O” of awe. She couldn’t stop pointing at everything she saw. Her joy was contagious. We were smiling simply because she was happy.

We walked beneath a creative archway made of intertwined branches and beside it was a massive blue whale stood with a huge sculpted rock towering above. The classic carousel hailed us with its music. Our granddaughter excitedly ran to the entrance, let her bracelet see the staff so she could ride. We stood there watching her go round and round waving at us every time she passed by. It was such pure joy that made my heart melt.

She joined her step brother on the Flying Bike. Their laughter echoed in the air as their ride rose and dipped with every turn.

Then came the bumper cars, one of everyone’s favorites. She rode with her grandpa, while our step-grandson drove his own car. Their happy yell and playful crashes sent us all laughing. Moments like that reminded me how awesome grandparents are. They may grow older but their hearts never age when they are with their grandchildren. There were side games. Our step grandson tried his luck at the basketball shoot while my husband took on the hanging challenge. He had to hang on a metal bar for two minutes and he did it! We all screamed, cheered and laughed so hard. It was as if everyone became children again carefree and full of life.

But the thrill wasn’t over, our step grandson dared to ride the Disk’O. It spun round and swung from side to side and we could hear his screams from far away. But he still wanted more so he tried the Crazy Trail roller coaster. The ride turned wildly and when it stopped, he got off dizzy and pale. His funny reaction had us all laughing so hard! Our granddaughter didn’t want the train ride instead we explored more of the park, admiring the colorful buildings and mystical scenery.

Then came a big moment, the Drop Tower. My husband and step grandson rode it together. When they were lifted high and suddenly dropped, they screamed, laughed and looked so alive. Grandpa looked even more excited than the kids!

But the best part, the moment our granddaughter waited for was the Ferris wheel. It stood tall and was surrounded by beautifully designed buildings. As we boarded our capsule she held her Grandpa’s hand tightly and said, hold on so you don’t fall! Her innocent words had us laughing throughout the ride. In another capsule, my son, daughter-in-law and step grandson waved at us while making funny faces. She kept talking cheerfully the whole ride, making us laugh nonstop.

When the ride ended she posed sweetly for photos, wanting to keep something to remember. Her smile was full of joy. We left Magikland tired but extremely happy. Our hearts were full. That day wasn’t just fun, it was love in motion, laughter shared and memories made. We didn’t just visit Magikland we brought home a piece of magic with us.
