We had an overnight stay in Abu Dhabi. My husband and I determined to welcome the day with an early morning walk around the InterContinental Abu Dhabi Marina.
One of Abu Dhabi's most picturesque marinas, InterContinental Abu Dhabi Marina can berth 183 boats up to 20 metres in size. With 24-hour security and a members' car park, the hotel is also home to several stylish restaurants, including Fishmarket, Belgian Cafe, The Bayshore Restaurant and Piano Lounge, all of which serve moreish fare and refreshing drinks, ideal for after an after-sail gathering with friends. My husband and I woke up early. As the clock struck 6:45 a.m., we moved outside the hotel. Greeted right away by the close embrace of the morning humidity. A thin haze stayed in the air, making the view in time appear to be dreamy and a bit misty. Despite the slight concern of the sticky air embracing to our skin, the serenity of the moment was beyond doubt. We didn’t mind with sneakers or fancy walking shoes, just our slippers. The ground was wet and the smooth filling under our feet made every step feel cozy and easy.
We took a moment to pull lightly. To relax our muscles with we did a few warm-up exercises before setting off. The sweat was already beginning to drop on our foreheads yet the peacefulness of the scene around us was breathtaking. There wasn’t a sign of air but the beauty of the place was enough to keep us going. The area around us was greenery. Trees were placed along the passage and casting a shadow, offering a quick rest from the heat. The city’s tall buildings stood proud in the background, their contour soothed by the hazy sky.
As we continued to wander slowly along Marina Bay, we felt a mix of amazement and curiosity. The stylish speedboats, each distinct in size and design were lined up smartly. Some are built for luxury, others clearly made for speed. Between the tranquil early morning, we caught the notice sound of air conditioners humming from a few of the boats. It made us wonder if someone was already on board, perhaps hosting guests or the owners themselves getting ready for the day.
We continued our walk toward the InterContinental Residences. My husband and I simply enjoying the scene along our way although the heat of the morning sun is growing powerful. The heat folded around us. Making our clothes stick to our skin and sweat flowed down in small continuous drops. Even with the unease of the heat, the beauty around us made every step worthy as we soaked in the calm and quiet of the early day together.
When we reached the front of the hotel area, we noticed a bicycle lane along the path. The whole place felt so peaceful with only the soft sounds of nature and cool waves filling the air. In front of the hotel, the beach stretched attractively. Its calm coast adds to the peaceful ambiance. It was an ideal place where the charm of the environs made us want to stop and take it all in.
After our restful pause by the beach, we returned to the speedboat area. Found a cozy place to sit down. We slipped off our slippers. We let our tired feet gasp for a bit. We shared a little talk. Enjoying the simple comfort of each other.
Our sunrise stroll came to an end. We brought with us the quiet and beauty of the early morning at InterContinental Abu Dhabi Marina. The sweat on our skin reminded us of the eagerness, the experience left us refreshed and connected to each other and the silent magic of the morning.
