Did You Say Magnetic Crocodiles?!

Stick figures? Finally, an art assignment I think I can do well with! For one of this weekend's engagement topics we were encouraged to hand draw a stick figure picture of our ideal day. Here mine is in all of it's glory.

My Ideal Day

Can you make out much of what I've drawn here? If you guessed that the background is a beach, you would be correct! Any beach would be fine, as long as the sand is warm on my toes and the waters are not filled with sharks.

I found out recently that shark fin is a delicacy. Apparently, there are folks out there cutting the fin off and THROWING the MAIMED shark back into the water! Holy guacamole. I have nothing against hunting, but that is just brutal. It makes one think that perhaps sharks are attacking people on beaches in retaliation for this heinous act.

Well, I'd never my friends. No shark fin soup for me! So, a peaceful beach, in fact a VERY peaceful beach. You will notice there are only two blankets on the sand. One belongs to my children, husband, and I. The other is a lone parent who has brought their child along and promptly fallen asleep. This is ideal for me because I hate the fake socialization that parents have to do when their kids decide to play together. "So, you guys like the beach too?" No thanks.

I've taken a job working with developmentally disabled people recently and I have a co-worker who prattles off these obvious-answer questions to me all shift. We received a new dryer for the girls I take care of last week and she asked me, "So that's the new dryer, huh?"

No dawg, that's a teleportation device I've been working on! Heh, I've become rather bitchy as of late, all the more reason I could use some time with the ocean and the people I love the most...

Right, back to that. So, there has to be at least one other family there because my daughter needs to make a friend wherever she goes. All of my love of random social interaction got pulled from my body and put into her when she was incubating, I think. You can see her with her little brother and said friend splashing in the waves with sand castles behind them.

Now a sandcastle is something I can happily spend some hours on. Suddenly I am an architect and general all at once. Is the castle aesthetic? Could it withstand an invasion if crabs were to attack it suddenly? Where would the trebuchet go? Yes.

During my ideal day we've built quite a few of them, the largest of which has a moat. Oh, my girlish desire for a moat, filled with crocodiles, obviously. Could there be a more simple and straightforward longing? Well, I'm extra, so I want the reptiles magnetized. Perhaps I'll tell you about that someday.

Yes, my ideal day is in fact simple though. Sun, waves, my husband and kids in the same place. A picnic packed just so in a wicker basket under an umbrella... only one thing could make it even more ideal, creating what I may dare to say would be a PERFECT day.

You'll notice my honey is carrying a bag. No, I haven't asked him to hold my purse. I don't carry a purse and instead opt for a backpack iffin I've got cargo. Let alone I can't imagine asking my very serious husband to do such a thing...

The bag is the kicker, the item I could do without but would still love to have. A big ole bag of money! Don't we all wish we had one?

While digging sandcastles we found the most curious lump beneath the sand. "Who buries garbage..." I grumbled. "Mom that looks like money!" Thea, the social butterfly daughter, responds. And stuff me with fish and call me a whale if she ain't right! There's gotta be at least 50 grand in that bad boy. Golllly!

I'm not looking for millions or even hundreds of thousands. Just some tightly wrapped stacks of probably lost drug money. And since it's my ideal day, no one knows it's here.

We'd enjoy our day until the sun set or that sleepy parent woke up to try to chat, and then we'd skedaddle off into the sunset like bandits. I think we'd let the kids pick what to do with much of it, why not? Maybe it would lead to more beach days, and if not, some other adventure...
