This amazing building complex in Baku covers an area 619,000 sq ft. The architecture avoids sharp angles designed to give a flowing smooth appearance. The design architect was Zaha Hadid an Iraqi by birth, globally recognised and award winner for her designs.
Now then.......The principle building contract was awarded to Dia Holdings..... owned by individuals linked to Azerbaijan's corrupt ruling Aliyev family; who have a network of offshore companies. Well there ya go, no need for brown envelopes!
The Heydar Aliyev Centre opened in 2012. In 2014, it was awarded the London Design Museum's prestigious Design of the Year Award.
It is said to be a world-class exhibition and museum complex it is a host to a wide range of permanent fixtures as well as temporary global presentations. Among the permanent collections, there's a museum exploring the life and legacy of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Legacy? he was a dictator, former senior office of the KGB, rigged elections, fraud and corruption all in his name as well as the fraudulent election of the current leader, his son Ilam. In fact the whole Aliyev family are corrupt through their criminal activities. Yet a lot of countries suck up to these creatures, why? OIL and GAS.
