This follows on from a #throwbackthursday post that reminded me of some awesome landscapes I shot many years ago.

Please enjoy some snaps I took crossing the Rohtang Pass, on the Western edge of the Himalayas.

At the summit pass rises to 14,000ft above sea level, the scenery changing from lush greenery

The Rohtang Pass, in North East India, was a key route along the ancient Silk Route, bringing trade and cultural exchange between the subcontinent and Central Asia.

It was also a strategic location a vital passage for military campaigns, giving access and control in the region

In 1968 an Indian Army transport plane carrying 102 people crashed in the mountains surrounding the pass, the wreckage was only found in 2003 and to date just 9 bodies have been recovered
