Chroma Sea is a San Francisco-based audiovisual duo, made up of filmmaker/guitarist Paul Ouellette and producer/multi-instrumentalist Michael Valenzuela. The creative process entails combining the use of guitar effects, synthesizers, pianos, drum machines, looping and experimental recording techniques.
Their recordings are designed to evoke the coastal atmosphere of California's bay area, with a natural feel and structure created through live recordings and improvisation. They often opt for minimal guitar-rooted ideas that are later expanded into dynamic arrangements after the fact.
