Hey All,

There is a famous proverb familiar to many of us and it goes something like this - “Necessity is the mother of invention.” Normally we have a high speed broadband connection at our home and now days for high speed the internet service providers are provding Fiber Optic connections claiming to provide high internet speed which is like 1 GBs [Gigabits per second]. I have been using Airtel Xstream Fiber broadband plans, leveraging the 100 MBs plan. Here is the summary along with an approximate price to be paid.

Monthly Price* Speed (up to) Key Benefits
₹499 + GST Up to 40 Mbps Unlimited internet, local/STD calls
₹799 + GST Up to 100 Mbps Unlimited internet & higher speed
₹999 + GST Up to 200 Mbps Higher speed + OTT/entertainment benefits
₹1,599 + GST Up to 300 Mbps High-speed connection + OTT benefits
₹3,999 + GST Up to 1 Gbps Top-tier speed, router & smart TV/OTT bundle

In my case, I did take a year plan and got a hefty discount so in all it came out to be roughly Rs.7500 for a year. Not a bad deal at all. Now coming to the main problem - which is around the WiFi signals at different rooms which is quite bad. I do have a WiFi extender but then at times that does not help and the speed is very low if you are working from the master bed room which is far away from the WiFi whic is in the drawing room. I tried complaining to the service provider and here is what they have to say on mobile phone the speed is coming high and if you connect your laptop via the broadband cable you can get the full 100 MBs speed which they are claiming and they take no gauruntee on the speed if you are connected with the WiFi. So now as a user you are lost and dont know what to do. Either we change our internet service provider Or try to find out a solution to the problem in hand ie how do we get good signals of WiFi in the area where it is far away from the router.

How to make your Phone as HotSpot using WiFi Connection...

Yes, the solution is to make your mobile hotspot and then use your internet service provider connecting your phone to WiFi and how do you that here is an example from my Honor 9Xc mobile phone. The first step will to be check if your mobile device supports - Wi-Fi+ / Internet Sharing - Shares Wi-Fi with other devices.

Honor X9c 5G Wi-Fi+

Feature Purpose Honor X9c 5G Support
Wi-Fi+ Automatically switches between Wi-Fi & mobile data for stable connection ✅ On by default
Wi-Fi Bridge Shares existing Wi-Fi via hotspot (acts as repeater) ✅ Likely integrated silently
Hotspot (Mobile Data) Shares mobile data connection with other devices ✅ Supported

In brief Wi-Fi+ is a smart connection feature. It helps your phone automatically switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to maintain a stable and fast internet connection. To be honest I was not aware of this feature and most of the time I was using my phone service provider internet data plan and then was leveraging the hotspot. Now if your phone support Wi-Fi+ feature then all you need to do is switch off your mobile device internet and enable Wi-Fi+ feature on your phone. By default it is on and hence if you have switched your phone internet then automatically it will switch to taking the WiFi connected internet services. Here is the summary to all of this.

  • Turn off mobile data, stay connected to Wi-Fi, and enable hotspot.
  • If your phone supports Wi-Fi sharing / Wi-Fi bridge:
    • The hotspot will still turn on and work,
    • Devices that connect to your hotspot will get internet from your Wi-Fi.

And all this means your phone is acting as a Wi-Fi repeater and hence a perfect solution to WiFi signals problem just by using your phone. Isnt this a great solution to all your problems tied to weak WiFI signals. Ok this should be it for todays post on - "Wi-Fi+ - Sloution to WiFi signal problem - How to make your Phone as HotSpot using WiFi Connection..." Happy Learning.... Cheers
