I posted last week about the new findings on Mars, about the closest evidence that life existed outside of our planet with pictures and material collected by the Perseverance robot. And by luck I found a coin that I was looking for which is a coin minted to celebrate Perseverance landing in the red planet. I saw this coin before on eBay by luck but the price isn't always good. But I got it from a private seller on the Facebook group for Silver/Gold traders.
Actually my luck was so big that actually I saw this coin twice being sold in the same week. The first time I missed and someone grabbed for 65 CAD. I got there to late. But after 2 days another seller decided to sell it too, with shipping I got it by 65CAD so actually it was a bit cheaper than the other one. What are the chances to see the same coin being sold in the same week two times? And I never saw it around the group.
This 1oz silver coin is minted by the Pressburg Mint, I think it is my first coin from this mint. It is from Slovakia. As a first coin from this mint I got impressed by creativity and nice details. Just 10,000 coins around the world minted in 2021 for Niue Island, which for some reason is pretty common to find silver coins from Niue. It celebrates the landing confirmation of Perseverance on February 18th in that same year at 8:55 PM UTC, which is the time and date showed in the obverse of the coin. Also in very small letters it displays the location of landing Jezero crater. And where we found recently these new evidences of life. So probably soon we will see more Jezero craters in coins ?
It is a coin with so many interesting symbols. In the same clock showing the time of landing, you can find symbols related to the development of life, like a double strand of DNA, a dinosaur and humans. The coin is complete showing the rover in the other side with the parachute that brought it to the soil and the lettering "Dare Mighty Things" , which in my opinion it is a mighty happening and we are still getting surprises every year from this project. Probably one of the current interesting projects happening outside of our planet.
The coin is amazing and different from other coins, we don't have a figure of the queen or king in one side! Both sides have elements associated to the design. I am not sure which side I like the most! That was an accomplishment, a coin that I was looking for probably a coin that will stay forever with me. Have you ever had a feeling like that?
