1. Intro - A Personal overview

I joined Hive blockchain at the end of 2021. I was onboarded while I was navigating through the crypto world and I met Hive and the opportunity to blog and own 100% of my content. That caught me fast. The blockchain is a sea of opportunities; you can blog, game, and explore the 2nd layer in Hive Engine. You take some moments to familiarize yourself. 2. What is HBD and its security

HBD is minted on the decentralized blockchain called Hive, where independent validators (or witnesses, how we call in the blockchain) are running nodes all around the world signing transactions. So dozens of servers worldwide are running the blockchain and if one country decides to block the network of that country still we will have many other people in other countries making the blockchain to run nonstop. The transactions are feeless and fast . The stable coin keeps its value while backed by Hive, 1 HBD is roughly backed by 1 USD in Hive. There is a system called HBD stabilizer that makes sure to back this pegged value. However, there is a security for this system to avoid a new UST/LUNA-like break: HBD issuance is limited by the debt between HBD and Hive should always be smaller than 30% . 3. How to get HBD and the savings system

We can buy HBD through the internal Decentralized Exchanged (DEX). There are multiple front-ends to access this dex, we can access the same dex through Ecency or Hive hub . The savings system is available to access through any wallet from any Hive front end such as Peakd , Ecency or even Hive Keychain (mobile app and Chrome extension). The savings generate interest every 30 days and anytime that you withdraw from the savings before this time, it restarts the interest generation until it accumulates at least 30 days. After 30 days, you can claim the interest and it automatically re-stakes this value. If you want to withdraw the interest or any value, the unlock period is only 3 days. Currently, the APR is 15%. The APR is set by the median value of the top 20 Hive witnesses configuration in their nodes. That's why the interest rate switched from 20% to 15% not long ago.

4. HBD cashback and Hive Debit card - real-world usabilities

Not long ago, a project called @distriator created this project where businesses could register could accept HBD transfers as a way for payments. In addition, the customer who buys with HBD in these businesses can receive cash back in HBD for every purchase. In addition, @hivedebit created the Hive Debit Card , a way to use a regular shopping debit card funded by HBD in our wallets. If you have HBD in your wallet, you can buy Bitcoin and even pay BTC lightning network invoices directly with HBD through the v4v.app .
