When I first discovered I was pregnant, I felt a mix of emotions. I was happy, yet sad, unsure of what this new chapter meant for me. Fear of the unknown journey ahead also crept in, leaving me uncertain about what to expect.
I shared the pregnancy test result with my partner, and he immediately sensed my uncertainty. With empathy and reassurance, he let me know that we were in this together, offering comfort and support.
Together, we visited the hospital for a proper pregnancy test and scan. The medical confirmation brought clarity, and we received reassurance that I was indeed pregnant. This moment marked the beginning of our journey together, and we felt more prepared to face what lay ahead.
FIRST TRIMESTER
First trimester was a challenging time,Morning sickness and vomiting were constant companions, and even the smell of my own home became unbearable. Escaping to work brought some relief, with the fresh air providing a welcome respite. During this period, my cravings leaned heavily towards comfort foods like fried potatoes, corn, mangoes, and watermelon. Though it felt like an eternity, I knew this was just the beginning of my pregnancy journey.
A WELCOME RELIEF As I entered the second trimester, the constant vomiting finally subsided, and I regained my appetite. I experienced a surge of energy and had unusual cravings, which my supportive husband happily fulfilled. My growing belly bump became a joyful reminder of the tiny human growing inside me. Anticipating the First Kick I eagerly awaited the first kick, and when it finally happened, it was an incredible feeling. The thrill and excitement were indescribable. It was a moment of pure joy, and I felt grateful for this precious experience, Managing Challenges Despite struggling with my routine medication, I prioritized taking it as prescribed. The reward was worth it – feeling my baby's movements made every challenge worthwhile.
The third trimester was a mix of emotions. Embracing the Final Stretch With the ability to eat more freely, I enjoyed a variety of foods. Knowing I was having a baby boy brought both excitement and anticipation. The nesting instinct kicked in at 30 weeks, and I took the opportunity to prepare our home for the new arrival.

Preparing for Parenthood
My Maternity leave gave me time to focus on my well-being and prepare for motherhood. Gentle exercises like walking and pelvic muscle exercises helped me stay active. Capturing moments of my baby's movements was a special way to share the experience with loved ones.
Countdown to Arrival As I approached 38 weeks, I felt ready to meet my baby boy. The final weeks flew by, and I looked forward to holding my little one in my arms. On September 11, I gave birth via an emergency cesarean section. The doctor's diagnosis of severe malaria added complexity to my delivery, but the priority was clear: ensuring my baby's and my health. I'm grateful that we both came out safe and healthy. As I recovered in the hospital, my scar healed nicely, and I couldn't take my eyes off my little one ,he bore a striking resemblance to me. That first glimpse was pure joy.
I can’t wait to share my postpartum experience and how motherhood has been so far.
