Hello, weekend worriers,
What do you do if it's bad weather? You find an inside activity. So we went to the museum.
The Dutch national military museum in Soesterberg the Netherlsnds. It is built in an old militaire complex on an old military airport. In the old days, they had the F16 fighter jest stationery here. It's a very strategic point in the middle of the country. During the Cold War, it was a very busy military base.
This is the view from the old airtraffic controle tower. It's very nice to see how far you could look. All the way to the city of utrecht.
There is a complete route throughout the museum starting at the earliest war history from the Netherlands. Horses, carriers, and swords.
And through the time of knights' armour, chain mail, and pirates' guns.
To wild west cowboys guns.
And bling bling guns of some kind of war criminal. It was all there
But the main attraction in this museum is the old aeroplane hangars. They transformed it into an open and very light space and hung it full of old militaire materials.
Just like this F16 fighter jet hanging from the roof of the building.
To chinook helicopters on the msin floor.
The biggest bombs and rockets.
Even a replica of the V1 and V2 bombs that were designed by the germans in the Second World. Here they hang next to the old spirfire, I believe.
To houwitser artillery equipment.
Look at this plane hanging above that tank. How bizar right!
There were also many antique planes shown here like this dubble decker and the spitfire.
And the futuristic seaplane. I have never seen it before.
And this masive shining plane above our heads. What's a beauty.
And e second world war sherman tank. There are even bulket holes in this one. Even a granade hole from a german anti-tank missile.
In the centre of the museum, they have continually diferen kind of exhibitions. Now, there was an exhibition of the pictures of different war photographers. All kinds of pictures from the war in Ukrainian. It was very impressive to see those pictures. They dressed the room with different kinds of memorable items that they took with them during the visit.
Very impressive series of pictures. I took a brochure with me where the photographers names are in, but I don't have it on me. If I find out who they all are, I will put that in here in an update or later on in the comments.
Thank you for reading, and let me know in the comments what you think of it.
Have a great weekend, you all.
