For today’s Mass indoctrination, Brother Eli made mention of the power of prayer and fasting. Firstly, he mentioned that whenever we are praying, we should always support it with fasting. We may not be taught in other churches but in a true house of God, it is always necessary to fast.
And while fasting, there are some sins that we commit on the days which we are not fasting but we shouldn’t commit them anyday when we are fasting. For example, God supports that husband and wife should make love with each other but while fasting, they can both come to conclusion that within that short time, they wouldn’t be having any sexual relation which is good. God will surely accept the reason why you are fasting.
Brother Eli used a Bible scripture, Isiah 58:6 to illustrate his point which says; “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?”
While a Christian is fasting, there are many things that such person should let go. If you know that you are the type who gambles, whenever you are fasting and begging God for something, do not gamble. Stop it.
When we are fasting, we should always try to desist from our wrong or bad acts. This doesn’t mean that we should go back to it after fasting but while fasting, we should be careful of the things that we do.
God will be with us and as long as we continue to listen to the sermons of Bro Eli, and we follow them, we will surelh be at peace and as well live a good life.
