Hoy quiero compartir un poco de lo que fue mi dÃa en la pequeña ciudad de Bad Harzburg.

Today I’d like to share a glimpse of my day in the small town of Bad Harzburg.

Fue una de las primeras veces en estas vacaciones que mi familia y yo salimos más temprano de lo habitual para visitar este lugar. Después de un viaje de poco más de una hora, llegamos a nuestro destino.

It was one of the first times during this vacation that my family and I left earlier than usual to visit this place. After a drive of just over an hour, we finally arrived.

Desde el inicio algo me llamó la atención: aunque todavÃa estamos en verano y faltan algunas semanas para que termine, los árboles ya empezaban a mostrar tonos otoñales, mi estación favorita.

From the very beginning something caught my eye: although it’s still summer and there are a few weeks left before it ends, the trees were already showing autumn shades—my favorite season.

El paisaje estaba lleno de árboles, calles con algunos turistas (en su mayorÃa alemanes) y un sol brillante pero agradable, lo que hizo que fuera un excelente dÃa para explorar. La idea principal era subir a una de las montañas cercanas. Aunque esta zona es montañosa, las alturas son menores en comparación con las que conozco en Colombia.

The landscape was full of trees, streets with a few tourists (mostly Germans), and a bright but pleasant sun, making it the perfect day to explore. The main plan was to go up one of the nearby mountains. Although the area is quite mountainous, the peaks are much smaller compared to the ones I’m used to in Colombia.

Subimos en teleférico, después de esperar más de media hora en la fila. El ascenso fue rápido: ¡menos de 3 minutos!

We went up by cable car, after waiting in line for over half an hour. The ride itself was quick—barely 3 minutes!

Desde lo alto, lo primero que ves es una vista panorámica del pueblo, con casas perfectamente ordenadas y las montañas verdes que lo rodean.

From the top, the first thing you see is a panoramic view of the town, with perfectly aligned houses and the green mountains surrounding it.

Luego buscamos algo de comer y, por supuesto, elegà una salchicha tradicional alemana acompañada de una cerveza.
 |
Afterwards we looked for something to eat, and of course, I went for a traditional German sausage with a beer.

Sin embargo, lo más recomendable es subir o bajar a pie, para poder disfrutar también de la fauna local: linces, aves, lobos, entre otros. Lastimosamente llegamos tarde y no pude ver ningún animal.
 |
However, the best option is to go up or down on foot, since you can also enjoy the local wildlife: lynxes, birds, wolves, among others. Unfortunately, we arrived too late and I didn’t get to see any animals.

Existe incluso una ruta de más de 40 km que lleva a un altar de brujas. Me llamó la atención cómo el tema de las brujas está muy presente en esta región, incluso en el logotipo de la ciudad.

There’s even a route of more than 40 km that leads to a witches’ altar. I found it fascinating how the theme of witches is so present in this region—even in the city’s logo.

Para bajar decidimos no tomar el teleférico, sino caminar. Fue un descenso de unos 20 minutos, suave y muy agradable.
 |
On the way down we decided not to take the cable car, but to walk instead. It was an easy 20-minute descent, smooth and very enjoyable.

Ya de regreso en la ciudad, terminamos la tarde con una deliciosa pizza y otra cerveza, cerrando el dÃa de la mejor manera.

Back in town, we ended the afternoon with a delicious pizza and another beer, closing the day in the best way possible.
|
Asà terminó mi visita a Bad Harzburg. Fue una experiencia muy disfrutable, y seguro volveré en otra ocasión. ¡Hasta la próxima!
