🏰 My Last Days in Barcelona: Exploring the Gothic Quarter
As with all journeys, my time in Barcelona also came to an end.
This trip was truly special—not only because of the new places I discovered, but also because of the reunions I had with friends I hadn’t seen in a long time.
Before flying to Germany, where I am now, we decided to revisit the Gothic Quarter. I wanted to pick up some souvenirs and explore a few areas I had missed during my previous visits.
This neighborhood really won me over—its architecture, its narrow streets, the history embedded in every corner, and the unique feeling you get while walking through it.
One of the most fascinating things is finding remains that date back over 2,000 years, from the time of the Roman Empire—like the columns of an ancient temple, aqueducts, and even a cemetery. It’s amazing how these structures have been preserved for so long.
Gothic architecture is one of my favorites, and I was reminded why while admiring the Town Hall, the cathedrals, and the charming streets that completely captivated me.
There were also moments of modern culture, like the mural “The World Begins with Every Kiss” (El món neix en cada besada), a colorful mosaic that has become a symbol of the city’s contemporary art.
For fans of alternative rock, there’s a fun bit of trivia: in Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, the band Evanescence filmed part of the music video for one of their most famous songs, My Immortal.
Of course, nightlife also thrives here. The area is full of bars of all kinds. I even found a rock bar where I met some local artists and enjoyed their raw punk sound.
The Gothic Quarter is definitely a must-visit in Barcelona—along with the surrounding neighborhoods.
Barcelona has been an incredible experience, and I’m sure I’ll be back.
See you soon for more adventures!
