I had about $52k USD when I first dreamed of being in top6 CA pre-sale,
I started buying DEC when it was 0.0008x. It seemed like buying DEC was obvious choice because I thought it would reach the peg once the presale began.
Then I happened to see this.
This instantly reminded me of a conversation the guild members had a few months ago.
Back then, after there was a 1.75 land update, and the price of Grain doubled.
'Cryptomancer knows more about Land than anyone else, and just like that, Matt knows more about Splinterlands than anyone. I missed the opportunity with Grain; I can't let this one slip by,' I thought.
I decided to follow Matt's lead and buy $20k USD worth of SPS, with the rest to purchase DEC.
I bought $20k USD worth of SPS at 0.00658
Whenever I buy something, just like always, a few days later I check the SPS price and see...
I really blamed Matt a LOT. "I should have just bought all the DEC. I might even miss the top 6 if SPS price keeps going down. Damn it... From now on, I will never follow Matt for anything no matter what Matt says!"
As usual, I hold my SPS, and about a month later, I saw this price.
"What?!" I just hold SPS just like always. Presale is not even started
Then I saw this..
At this point my feelings about Matt had completely changed. I just wanted to give him a big hug and say, "Thank you, Matt. You're the best leader in the world." @yabapmatt
I was tempted to sell my SPS, but the presale was about to start. My plan was to burn all in right before it presale ended, so I kept holding onto my SPS.
Then I saw this
Bulldog was going to burn a lot of SPS, and I thought the price of SPS might go up a bit.
So I swaped 6 M DEC to SPS price at $0.01
As a result, I burned a total of 3,526,692 SPS 2 minute before the presale ended at SPS price of $0.013
bought packs total 81.5 M DEC (1.5 million DEC using alt account)
3 AM
Imagine you have 81.5 M DEC worth of funds for presale but haven't bought any presale packs yet. The presale ends few hours later at 3 AM, can you fall asleep at 11 PM? ... I did... 😅
I set three alarms clocks because I knew I'd be too tired if you keep staying awake, since I have to take my son to school by 9 AM. I still sometimes wonder what would have happened if the alarms didn't go off or if I hadn't woken up.
Thank you
I just wanted to make it into the top 6, so I planned to make my purchase in the last seconds to avoid competition. I didn't expect the community to be so excited about it. I'm happy and feels great to have brought some joy and memorable moments to everyone, and It feels like I've received a precious reward in addition to the actual prizes.
I probably won't forget this moment. These days, when I DM for trade, people congratulate me first, which makes me feel a bit of responsibility. I'll keep thinking about what I can do for Splinterlands.
