There is one song that truly captures what I feel today as we celebrate the ladies of Hive; it has not only passed like whispers but has also stayed like a heartbeat. For me, that one song is "Girl on fire" by Alicia Keys.
Verse two is my favorite part, but that doesn't mean I don't like verse one. Verse one describes a girl who seems ordinary but carries extraordinary strength and fire inside her. While the second verse emphasizes her power, independence, and the fact that she shines so brightly that no one can actually dim her light. That's all the more reason I like it so much, maybe if I put the verse down, you would resonate with it as well, see what it says:
[Verse 2] Looks like a girl, but she's a flame So bright, she can burn your eyes Better look the other way You can try, but you'll never forget her name She's on top of the world Hottest of the hottest girls, say
[Pre-Chorus] Oh-oh, we got our feet on the ground And we're burning it down Oh-oh, got our head in the clouds And we're not coming down... Let's just stop here for now
The song resonates with me big time. I remembered seasons when I felt invisible, carrying dreams that seemed too heavy. It reminded me of the quiet battles I had to fight—those moments when my voice trembled, and my dreams felt too fragile to survive, as if my own challenges were literally going to swallow me up. Yet, the song told me something entirely different; it reminded me of the fire that burns within, a flame that no challenge can quench, urging me to rise above fear and to walk boldly in my own light with courage and resilience. The fire that carried the right to stand tall. It became my shield and my song, reminding me that even in loneliness, even in storms, and betrayal, the fire would keep me rising.
And today, on this anniversary, I dedicate that same song filled with positive spirit and fire of passion to the Ladies of Hive. Each lady is a living testimony that women can rise, not in isolation, but together in brilliance, unstoppable, and inspiring. The ladies of Hive are walking flames of amazing creativity, wisdom, and hope into this community. I am happy to belong to this sisterhood of light and fire.
Thank you @silversaver888 for sowing this vision and @thekittygirl for watering it until it grew into this amazingly thriving space. I say thank you to every lady of Hive for your uplifting post; I do learn from them, and thank you to all the supporters. Truly ladies of Hive are on fire.
