So after the first sleep at home, we got up early for breakfast! My sisters and parents are early risers and the sun in East Malaysia, Borneo rises earlier than in West Malaysia!
The sky was already bright by 6am. I was woken up by that because usually it only looks bright at 7am in Kuala Lumpur where I stay.
But it is okay. That calls for 8am breakfast! My another sister has a son who is also an early riser so we met at this famous breakfast spot! Even Henry Golding comes here to get his Sarawak Laksa fix when he is back in town!!
We are ready for breakfast! Happy to have a versatile toddler who can do kopitiam hop with me hahaha. She was sleeping soundly but the moment I started changing her, she woke up and was not grumpy at all.
Chong Choon Kopitiam (local food court)
I haven't been to this eatery though it is famous in Kuching. My sisters say usually there is a long queue waiting to enter and we were lucky to actually go in earlier with plenty of seats available still. I went to sit with my second sister's family because her son is very fond of my daughter.
We ordered this laksa which is rice vermicelli in prawn broth with some aromatics. I love the portion here though the large portion is a bit smaller compared to the usual ones. To me it is just the perfect size for me!
There was also kolo mee which is dry curly noodle that is tossed in pork and shallots oil so it is super fragrant. My daughter loves her noodle that she shared with my mum.
This is 3 layer milk tea, a special drink consists of milk, tea and a palm sugar called gula apong also something that produced and found locally in Sarawak. It is lighter compared to the usual gula Melaka which is produced in West Malaysia.
My nephew helped to take photos of the other table while my daughter was munching away happily and not bothered.
These are some of our photos before we vacated the place as we saw more and more people queueing to enter.
St Peter's church
This is now quite a famous tourist spot to take photos. It is a new building of a Roman Catholic church in Kuching. It is extra magnificant at night when many viral videos have been recorded. We did not plan to go over but since we were passing by, we got down to take a look.
Just then, the clock tower started chiming because it was 9 o'clock in the morning! It was solemn and yet majestic.
Unfortunately, we were not dressed appropriately to go in and we also missed the visiting hour's window so we only took photos outside the church. The proper attire is to wear long pants and skirts below the knees and there are fixed hours of 10am to 12pm that we are permitted to enter.
My youngest sister managed to peeped through the glass doors at the side and got some photos of the beautiful stained glasses inside.
Love the floor tiles and the great wooden door.
After a whole morning of activities here and there, my daughter who is only 17 months old needed her nap so she was recharged again for another 2 hours.
