My second sister arranged for a big dinner reunion gathering in a private room for both our side of the family and also her in-laws.
My youngest sister assisted her and they ordered altogether 13 dishes!!! This dinner is to celebrate the occasion of my belated birthday in September and my sister's birthday in October.
I may not be able to name the dishes one by one because I couldn’t keep track as I was trying to also pay attention closely to my daughter.
It was a room filled with noises and laughter and it was so nice to see everyone after a long time not seeing them.
But let me just run through some of the dishes first.
I am so sorry I am not able to name them or tell what they are but some I do remember was a very good stir fried noodle, a spicy lala soup, signature tofu from the restaurant, fried mantou with some pork belly, a superb kacangma soup with wine (kacangma is a local herb used for confinement), fried oyster omelette, fried manicai with egg (manicai is a local vegetable that is sweet), fish maws with mushrooms, yam basket with vegetables, spare ribs in pineapple.
Then we had this unforgettable yam cream cake. This was our birthday cake and boy, it was incredibly delicious!!!!
My daughter enjoyed eating by herself so much and not bothered by anything or anyone.
Here is a photo of me and my sister celebrating our birthdays. We are 13 months apart. Ever since I got married, we seldom get to celebrate our birthdays together so this is precious!
I really enjoyed myself that night though there was an incident of my nephew having a meltdown because my 1-year-old daughter did not want to play with him. My daughter has been minding her own business and he wanted to hold her hand but she was not paying attention to that. Poor boy!
We even had desserts to bring home, sponsored by our youngest sister. These are mochis made of glutinous flour with two different flavours: yam and mango. I really love them because I am a huge lover of mochi!!!
