Welcome to Duwa!
Husband checking out their menu upon arrival.
We had to sit this big round high table because the other smaller tables were occupied.
Very open kind of concept which is comfortable. They even helped their neighbour to exhibit some of his art works.
There is a cozy corner with sofa but was later occupied by some of the owner's friends.
They have an open bakery concept when we can see their staff kneading bread onside their kitchen right behind us.
The Bug Breakfast I ordered for myself
Just look at that beef bacon on top of the sourdough!!!
Roast Chicken Focacia Sandwich
We totally enjoyed our food and our short date together!
When I got back to Kuala Lumpur, I met the husband at the train station and we decided to go for a quick dinner before picking our two boys from their grandparents' house. We actually wanted to just go for the Prosperity Meal in McDonald's since it was still during the CNY period but it was no longer available on the menu.
So we needed to find an alternative nearby thst can be fast. I quickly thought of this cafe opened by someone we know, which my husband and many have been but I have not because my sons have nothing to eat on their menu yet.
Hence we headed to Duwa Cafe by the Baker Brothers!
I totally fell in love with the simplicity and the cozy ambience once I entered their shop. They sell some baked goods too like croissants and bread loaves. We were also greeted by the fragrant aroma of coffee. There are seatings both inside and outside of the cafe. We finally chose a round higher table right in front of their open kitchen where we can see the staff kneading and making bread. How interesting!
So what did we ordered finally?
Roasted Chicken on Focacia Bread
My husband sort of know this is good maybe because he has tried it before. I took some bites from his and boy, the chicken is so tender and flavourful. It came with one of my favorites as the sides - Truffle Chips! Oh my goodness, I ended up snatching a lot of his chips, oops! I tell myself next time I visit this cafe, I definitely want to order this for myself! Best of all it costs only RM18!
Big Breakfast
My Big Breakfast came with some beef bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, hot dogs, hash brown, baked beans and the best sour dough I could ever ask for. I wished there was some greens though hahah to balance the colour. Overall, everything tasted really good and it was a hearty meal for me. Felt very satiated.
The Bakers Brothers
Before we left, we met the owner who is a friend that I met first actually out of randomness many years ago. My husband and his brothere were still running their food trucks back then and coincidentally one day, I was fixing my old car near their first bakery spot. They were so helpful seeing that I was clueless about where to find my repairman and we chatted. I got to know they are working to supply buns. They are known as The Bakers Brothers. I told them I would connect them with my husband and my husband went to meet them. After that they collaborated closely and became friends. They got many more business contacts and opportunities and they now have 2 cafes and supplying to quite big restaurants too. I am so happy for them!!!
My husband told me till today the owner still talks about how he met me and got connected with my husband and his brother, wow! I almost forgot this part of the story but yes I am grateful we have met that time! Divine appointment it was, I believe! They are a bunch of humble and diligent people who are generous too. Really appreciate #gems like this!
