The urge to play the most heavy and angry music I know

@harbiter · 2025-10-21 09:55 · Three Tune Tuesday

When I'm working at my job everyday there's the radio turned on. We used to listen to Radio Italia that plays only Italian pop songs. Older songs are ok, new ones are crap 🤢 Anyway they are always the same, only pop music. No rock, no indie, no alternative. Recently we found this Radio Gemini that is a radio with no people talking and plays music from the 70s till early 2000s. Always pop songs, but at least I got to listen to some disco funk, some rock hits and Eurodance songs from the 90s. It's good, but listening to commercial radio means it gets boring and annoying really quick. That's why many days I just can't wait to get out of work and play as loud as I can the most heavy music I know. You know, just to reset my eardrums 🙃 Here's a little selection for #threetunetuesday

SPIRITBOX - FATA MORGANA

https://youtu.be/eoVExOdCpjs?si=_rDzTbscudem1xNb

Opening song of their latest album Tsunami Sea, Fata Morgana is the perfect example of how mixing heavyness with melody and ethereal soundscapes is a winning formula. Starting an album with the right song is really important and with this one, Spiritbox manage to do it. Also, I love the lyrics:

Sorrow follows me I feel it in my inhale when I breathe I can feel it in the exhale, underneath Cascading over everyone and everything Watch it bloom like a bloodstain, over me Wade into punishment, carry me And all that ever was, will ever be Pain is nothing but an infinite enemy upon my conscience

Fata Morgana is the perfect song to showcase Spiritbox own sound and songwriting because it includes both the most heavy parts and the clean and gentle ones.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE - ARMS OF SORROW

https://youtu.be/EluzTj88tWU?si=ZITJzpdtZhFTxWE7

Gosh I love this song so much. From their most acclaimed album As Daylight Dies, Arms of Sorrow includes everything I like about Killswitch Engage Howard Jones' era: heavy metalcore djenty riffs with a progressive hint; heart-fullfilling melody; clean singing to sing along to; screamo singing to scream along to. Yet there's something in that specific album that I can't find in any other one. I can't really understand what it is. I just know it's beautiful and I never get tired of listening to it.

POPPY - THE CENTER'S FALLING OUT

https://youtu.be/ixRV9Tqrzw0?si=VLbmznRKb7BRX2Ik

Maybe you have noticed that I LOVE POPPY MY GOD MARRY ME PLEASE... ehm sorry, my bad 😅 Negative Spaces is the latest album from this amazingly talented, alien - out of this world - artistoidic woman. Yet is not my favourite of her works because it's just metal, while other albums like Zig and I Disagree present a wide mix of music genres that only Poppy knows how to put together in such an interesting and intriguing way. I think The Center's Falling Out is her heaviest song ever. Save it for when you are really angry and need to steam out. Thank you.
