Hey all! Unfortunately I've been having internet troubles the past week or so. I've only been online for about half that time. The downtime overlapped last Friday, which has kind of landed as my curation post day, and by the time I got it sorted out with my ISP, I figured it might be easier to just wait for this week. Bottom line, life has been 'happening' quite often this year, and I'm doing my best! Sigh. But anyway, we had some really awesome posts in the Creative Coin tribe the past week or so! I've really been enjoying how much variety is coming into the fold. So without further ado, these are five of my personal favorites:
1. @ylich -- Steemit Open Mic Week 150 - Por que ahora (Cover)
I just really appreciated how solid and well done this performance was. It's really tough to get a good take in a live 'DTube' format like this - no edits, no punching in - and I was really diggin' it start to finish. @ylich is the kind of dude you want to have in a group around a campfire :). Good vibes.
2. @nupulse -- Meet Yourself
This was a fun track to just vibe out to. Especially while I'm working, I love to find some cool music to keep on in the background that is fun but not too distracting. This one fit the bill for that perfectly. Solid production and sound as well.
3. @clubfungus -- Astrix Type 1 Remix
What a fun track to jam out to right here. I love how for whatever reason, there's such a strong little underground community for these less frequented genres in the crypto world, like trance. It's making a comeback though; Choon (RIP, as it was) was huge for that. I don't hear it nearly as often anymore (at least not me; I've been out of the loop the past few years), but it's always nice. Really solid mix. Props to @clubfungus and Astrix for the great tune.
4. @curly-xu -- Self portrait 🙃watercolor by @curly-xu
A beautiful self-portrait done by the talented @curly-xu. I studied her eyes for a good few minutes just marveling at much depth and brilliance there was. I don't think I need to say much more than that; really masterfully done.
5. @ferjart -- Heavy Rain (new illustration)
What a cool digital illustration. We don't often think about the cost of war. Most depictions are usually based around the glory, the battle... the winner. Even though it's obviously set in a fantasy world, I think it's such a thoughtful concept to shed light on such a heavy moment of defeat, in such an intimate and hopeless manner. War, and life, is harsh. Acknowledging that is a healthy thing.
HONORABLE MENTION: @derangedvisions -- Marketing the platform off of the blockchain
I didn't want this to take up one of my 'five', as I already missed last week because my internet was on and off. It's also an ad for CCC, so it felt kind of meta to have this be one of my curation choices. Nonetheless though, I think @derangedvisions did a bang up job on this video ad, showcasing the likes of some of our best and brightest like @juliakpondford and @isaria. I mentioned in the comments that I personally feel like this is the kind of direction Steem as a whole needs to move on the advertising front. Out in the non-crypto world, people don't care about crypto. In fact, it can be more of a turn-off. I agreed through and through that keeping the spotlight on the art was 100% the right move. Anyways, great job to everyone involved in the making of this video, and of course the artists showcased within!
