"We can only take so much"

Hello Asean Hive Community, Greetings from Bacolod, Philippines.

Recently, it was all over the international news about the devastating magnitude 6.9 in Bogo Cebu, followed by the 7.4 magnitude Earthquake in Davao.

In Negros Occidental, we have been suffering from Volcanic Eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, since December 2024

and now what?

A Typhoon 😪

We woke up to the news of the Typhoon Tino (International name: Typhoon Kalmaehgi) will be hitting our province this midnight, and time check, it is 2:05 now and Yes,the typhoon made a landfall in Leyte and will be probably be here in few hours

Earlier this morning since we got the news, I and my Father already rushed to the Supermarket and Pharmacy to finally set up our Family's " Go Bag" since the prevalent Earthquake, our local government encourage every family to prepare their disaster emergency kit/ bag, and because we are far from the city, we woke up earlier to buy the necessary things we will be needing, while the typhoon is still far away

-Battery/Solar powered radio -Flashlight - Universal Mini Wrench(Swiss Knife if you have) - Safety pins -Matches -Candles -Solar/battery powered lamps -Whistle (since I was little, my uncles would always remind me to bring my whistle with me, if you have children, put each in their bags too and instruct them to use it to ask for help if they can't shout)

Food: (It depends on your Family's need, but make sure to have enough for at least a week)

  • Energy bars (make you feel less hungry for temporarily) -Canned Goods (make sure to remember the expiration)
  • Instant Noodles -Rice -Salt -Sugar -Instant Coffee

and extra clothes, make sure that the clothes you will pack can protect you from the rain or cold weather, and bring something for the hot weather too.

Plan your family's meeting place/ evacuation, where to exit, where to hide and where to meet up, if you have pets, remember to always put their collars and put their leashes in your bag too.

I do hope we won't be needing all of these, but it actually gives up peace of mind, I know we can never be prepared for any disasters, but remember that it is better that you and your family are ready, if ever I forgot something, feel free to comment for added information, also, if you are including in the path of Typhoon Tino, Please keep safe, hold on, and hopefully he will be much weaker in the next few hours, " Bagyo lang yan, Pinoy tayo" (It's only typhoon, we are Filipinos) this too, like the many disasters will pass.

Thank you for reading, pictures attached are all mine, typhoon and disaster news are from our local government websites (I have included the link too), collage are made by Canva, without any AI involvement.
