Bienvenidos a mi blog.
Welcome to my blog.

Hello friends, I hope you have a great day. Today I am here to show you a new drawing I made for Poketober. Pokémon are creatures with fascinating abilities that have the capacity to evolve according to the requirements that are established and met. This particular drawing is for the Poketober challenge where each day has a new word to incorporate into your illustration. This drawing corresponds to day 12, where the word is 'crush,' and who better for that than Rockruff.
Rockruff is a Rock-type Pokémon, introduced in the seventh generation (Sun and Moon), known for its adorable appearance and loyal but sometimes rebellious nature. Inspired by a puppy, its design combines sweetness with strength, making it a favorite among trainers (it's also my favorite). Although it looks adorable, Rockruff has a strong personality; it deeply attaches itself to its trainer (as some dogs do), but it can also become difficult to control as it grows.
My illustration uses a warm palette that adds the energy of the moment. Rockruff is represented with light brown and beige tones in its fur, with deep shadows that give it volume and definition. The use of pebbles on its neck is something that defines it. I also wanted to see what he would look like with his ears raised, which adds another perspective to Rockruff.
The rock he's crushing has gray tones with edges illuminated by the impact, demonstrating the tremendous amount of strength this little guy can possess. The small flying rock fragments and the kicked-up dust are painted with dynamic strokes and an earth-toned palette, giving the drawing even more realism.
The entire color palette not only complements and highlights Rockruff, but also adds to what he wants to demonstrate. Rockruff isn't just playing; he wants to demonstrate his great power, his determination to turn rock into dust, and his development as a Pokémon.
The tropical background with palm trees, orange sky, and vegetation creates a warm atmosphere and reminds me somewhat of Alola. The sky, in shades of pink, orange, and gold, adds a beautiful touch to the sunset, a moment where we can see how hard he works to become stronger and perfect his skills. In this context, Rockruff is training to become stronger, also seeking to evolve into Dusk Form (my favorite).
The palm trees and the ground add to the idea that he's possibly in Alola, where he was originally an Aggregator. This natural environment pairs well with the Pokémon because it connects with his Rock-type, but also with his wild and determined side.
The background, on the one hand, doesn't compete with the character; instead, it highlights and gives him a place, creating a balanced scene where each element has its importance in the illustration.
The anime style of my illustration is evident in the clean lines, expressive eyes, and exaggerated movement. Rockruff is striking a pose where he's trying to crush a rock. He has one paw raised to propel himself forward and exert more force, and his body is also slightly leaning forward. The impact lines, dust, and stones are drawn with quick strokes.
Rockruff's facial expression, with its eyes focused and mouth wide open, conveys determination and effort, moving away from its cute appearance to show its more ferocious side. This contrast between adorable and strong is something the anime style manages to achieve, and it does so with precision.
This illustration isn't just an image of Rockruff hitting a rock. It's a scene that shows him training, wanting to evolve, and overcoming something that is challenging for him. The sunset, the natural setting, the force of the impact, and little Rockruff's expression combine to give it a strong spotlight.
If you asked me how I could interpret this image, it would be this: Rockruff is a Pokémon determined to improve in order to evolve into Lycanroc, proving its worth as a Pokémon. It could also be another way, like a souvenir photo taken by its trainer. There are many ways to interpret the image; that's the point of drawings: to let the viewer's imagination run wild.
