Hello fellow Hivers, I hope you're all well. Today, as usual, I'm here to present my entry for the weekly Splinterlands contest. This time, I'm bringing you Spirit Miner.

The story tells of how a brave Dwarf Miner, many years ago, ventured into the underworld of Mortis in search of treasure in the Realm of Dreams. But unfortunately, he encountered an ancient and menacing creature called the Black Drake of Malavy. This sparked a battle in which the dwarf, despite his knowledge of the arts of war, was unable to defeat his rival, who wields the power of the sinister Drake. After being cornered and attacked by a powerful spell from Malavy, the dwarf's body vanished, leaving only his silvery, ethereal spirit cloud. Before the Flesh Assumption spell was completed, the dwarf escaped the monster's clutches. Now the Miner's Spirit roams the Paved Lands practicing the powerful magic he learned in the battle with the Drake of the Underworld. He is neither alive nor dead. He is the Miner's Spirit.

My illustration is a stylized reinterpretation of a miner's spirit. At first glance, what stands out are the colors and the energy emanating from the character. Unlike the original, which presents a more static figure, my version feels alive, colorful, and charged with energy. This transformation is not only skillful but also abstract. The character goes from being something with few colors to something alive that emanates a lot of colorful energy.

To deepen the colors, my palette is more contrasting and saturated. The dark tones of the body, which I added to give the idea that it is filled with coal and stone, are elevated by light accents that radiate internal energy. This not only highlights the muscles and other features but also confirms a connection to the mining environment from which he comes. The helmet is one of the accessories that characterizes miners, and how could it not be used when it matches him so well? The metallic sheen and shadows create a mysterious background; I added this to convey the idea that he's deep underground.

My style is anime, as always, with creature design models from fantasy anime. I put all my effort into his silhouette and body (since he's a dwarf). I tried to define his muscles with greater precision. The lines are dynamic, with lines that give the idea of movement, even in a static pose. This technique, common in Japanese art, allows you, the viewer, to feel that the character is about to perform an action depending on the pose he's in.

Comparing the original image with my version, the difference is more noticeable. While the original shows a calmer character, almost like a sculpture, my version has energy, in his limbs, in the gaze hidden behind the helmet. It's as if the miner's spirit has been summoned, and is now in the middle of a mission.

Another aspect to consider is the addition of elements. Although delicate, there are details that clearly confirm a connection with the underground world: textures reminiscent of minerals, shapes reminiscent of digging tools, and a palette that could represent the different tones of the earth. These elements aren't present in the original, but they're still a good drawing that hides a story of how brave dwarves are.

His body, as always, I tried to make it as best as possible to make it look like a dwarf like the one in fantasy anime. I tried to use everything I'd seen in anime and movies, which allows me to play with deformations without losing the dwarf's appearance. The torso, for example, was done in a way that gave the idea that it's performing a movement, while the arms are positioned to convey preparation for an action.

The illustration itself is well balanced. The character occupies the center of the illustration, but doesn't feel static. The lines of the arms and legs, along with the lighting effects, I tried to draw your attention, the viewer, through the illustration. Furthermore, the background allows the character to stand out without any distractions, which is what I wanted to achieve for this illustration.

In short, my illustration is a reinterpretation that takes a solid base and transforms it into something much more lively and expressive. Through color, style, and the body, I manage to create a character that not only impresses with its technique and style, but also invites us to imagine its story through what we can see. It's a clear example of how art can give way to the imagination and turn what we base ourselves on into an illustration, putting our creativity to the test.
