Ya es Octubre y se acerca Halloween es por esto que Netflix está liberando en sus plataformas diversas películas de terror y suspenso para estar ad hoc en esta temporada. El día de hoy quiero contarles de “Ma” una película de terror psicológico que recién se liberó en la plataforma y que te dejará pensando en no volver a ignorar a la niña rara del salón.

La historia parte con una madre y su hija adolescente que regresan a la que fue su ciudad de origen, un pequeño pueblo en el que Erica, la madre, nació y creció. Maggie como cualquier adolescente no está muy contenta con el cambio, ya que en este nuevo pueblo no tiene amigos y su personalidad tranquila y un poco introvertida no ayuda mucho cuando de hacer nuevos amigos se trata.

Pero las cosas cambian cuando conoce a un grupo de chicos que la invitan a pasar la tarde con ellos, lo que no le contaron es que planean comprar licor en la tienda del barrio, pero al ser menores de edad necesitan que un adulto los ayude, ahí es cuando entre en escena Sue Ann, una agradable señora que parece preocupada por que los adolescentes beban y conduzcan en vía pública así que les ayuda comprándoles las bebidas alcohólicas y les presta el sótano de su casa para que puedan hacer fiestas.

Pareciera que Sue Ann quiere revivir sus años de adolescente conviviendo un poco con los jóvenes que asisten a su sótano, pero poco a poco iremos conociendo que detrás de su simpática personalidad se encuentra un ser retorcido con propósitos ocultos que se irán hilando en la película, el pasado y el presente se difuminan en la mente de esta mujer y conocemos lo que la impulsó a rodearse de adolescentes.

La película me gustó, la actuación de Octavia Spencer siempre es muy buena y la historia se disfruta, si dejamos de lado lo extraño que parece que una mujer adulta se lleve con adolescentes de manera muy cercana, creo que eso es lo que más genera repulsión en la película.
