Greetings Friends
Tattoos and tattoo art has always fascinated and inspired me. Although I have designed a few dozen tattoos and even done a little bit of tattooing myself I have never felt like I possess adequate skills to do it professionally, which is why I have decided to work on more things in a tattoo style. It is always fun to choose something like this so that you cam later look back and see how your skills have improved. (I used to do a lot of portraits for a similar reason.)
These first attempts will not be perfect, but I am hoping to learn.
The clean sketch, where I tried to focus on neat strong lines and practicing line weight. This needs some more work.
Next, I tried to focus on my shading, which is okay as a starting point but needs a lot of practice. This is part of why I think this art style will help me learn and improve a lot.
After a few more layers of shading, a few stitches were added as it felt like the heart needed something to balance out the flames, it also just looks cooler that way.
I used white acrylic marker for making the light bits stand out some more. These also need some work. This is Option 1 - No fill on the flames with just the shading. It looked unfinished, which prompted the following experiments.
Option 2 - This one is my second choice after the plain black flames from the first image. Of course any bold bright colour would work here, but I think the red looks quite nice.
Option 3 - As an idea, it looks just fine, but I do not like it much, might attempt a version with the colours shaded in, rather than drawn on.
Option 4 - This is my favourite, I just like the simplicity of it and that every detail is showing as clearly as it can.
Well that's it for now.
Till next time!
