I'm going to start by showing you the different murals created during the 30th edition of Under Pressure in Montreal. It's one of the oldest StreetArt festivals in North America still running today. There are always huge walls painted by talented artists from all over the world. You'll find some wonderful discoveries in this post and the ones that follow. Let's start with a collaboration between Mr Myl and Monk.E.

C'est l'un des plus vieux festival StreetArt en Amérique du Nord toujours en activité. Il y a toujours des gros murs faits par des artistes talentueux venant d'un peu partout dans le monde. The Under Pressure festival takes place on Sainte Catherine Street between Saint Laurent Boulevard and Sanguinet Street in Montreal. This wall, one of the main ones, is located at the corner of Boisbriand Street and City Hall Avenue.

Le festival Under Pressure se déroule sur la rue Sainte Catherine entre le boulevard Saint Laurent et la rue Sanguinet à Montréal. Ce mur, un des principaux, se trouve au coin de la rue de Boisbriand et de l'avenue de l'Hôtel de Ville.

Monk.E & Mr Myl

It's one of the main walls of the festival, and it's pretty cracked. It's the paint that holds it together 😀. With its large dimensions, it's perfect for collaborations. This year it's Mr Myl aka Luis Casas, an artist from Havana, Cuba. He studied fine arts and then turned to street art, becoming one of the pioneers in Cuba. Now his work can be seen all over the world. This is his second appearance at Under Pressure, he was there in 2023, see StreetArt #631 and StreetArt #633.

C'est un des principaux murs du festival assez fissuré. C'est la peinture qui le fait tenir 😀. Avec ses grandes dimensions, il est parfait pour les collaborations. Cette année c'est Mr Myl aka Luis Casas, un artiste originaire de La Havane à Cuba. Il a fait ses études aux Beaux-Arts puis s'est dirigé vers le StreetArt, un des pionnier à Cuba. Maintenant son oeuvre est présente un peu partout dans le monde. C'est sa deuxième présence au Under Pressure, il était là 2023, voir StreetArt #631 et StreetArt #633.

Monk.E & Mr Myl

Mr Myl was accompanied by a local artist, Monk.E aka Alchimiographe, a founding member of the K6A Crew, which is very active and creates only beautiful murals. And this is once again the case here, where we recognize his background with calligraphy. I think he also created the bus passage with this superb work on reflections.

Mr Myl* était accompagné par un local, Monk.E aka Alchimiographe*, membre fondateur du K6A Crew très active avec seulement des murs de toute beauté. Et c'est encore la cas cette fois où on reconnait son fond avec la calligraphie. Je pense qu'il a aussi réalisé le passage du bus avec ce superbe travail sur les reflets.

The wall was inspired by the poetry of Cuban poet Dulce María Loynaz. I was not familiar with this important figure in Cuban literature. It is an important theme in her writings, the balance between our home and solitude. I may not have all the information I need to understand the meaning of the wall, but I appreciate its artistic quality. What do you think?

Le mur a été inspiré par la poésie de la poétesse cubaine Dulce María Loynaz. Je ne connaissais pas cette figure importante de la littérature cubaine. Il s'agit d'un thème important de ses écrits, l'équilibre entre notre maison et la solitude. Je n'ai peut-être tous les éléments pour comprendre la signification du mur mais j'en apprécie la qualité artistique. Et vous qu'en pensez-vous ?**
