Hello my fellow Hivers of the @motherhood community! Hope you're all doing well and safe.
I'm back to share another realization of my day as a mother.
Earlier today, we had a feeding program in school. We served milk with bread to the children. Each of them brought their own cup, and I helped by mixing the milk with hot water. It looked so simple just pouring warm milk into small cups but in that moment, I felt something deeper.
I realized that I am not only a mother to my two children at home, but also to the many pupils I meet each day in school.
At home, I prepare my child’s formula every morning and evening. In school, I still find myself doing the same thing, but this time, it’s not for my own child but for the other children I take care of her in the classroom.
Being a mother is not only about taking care of my kids in the house. It can also be experience out in the workplace, in the community, and in every place where our service is needed.
They say that teachers are the second parents of their pupils. I see this truth every single day.
When I hand over the cup of milk and see the smile on their faces, when I hear their small voices saying thank you, it already fills my heart. It fills the longing I sometimes feel for my own children when I am at work.
Motherhood, as I understand understand it, is not limited to the four corners of a home. It is about showing love and giving time, to my own children or to others.
It is about choosing to care, to guide, and to share, even in little things like mixing milk for children in need.
I am a mother to my two kids, but I am also a mother to the many children in my classroom. That is one of the blessings of being both a parent and a teacher, Iget to extend my heart beyond my home.
