Hello my dear Hivers of the @hivegarden community. I hope you and your plants all doing well and safe.
It has been long since my last post in this community. I missed reading different gardening and planting stories.
So, last week our district decided to conduct the annual school activity festival of talents. Since there is no school based of this activity, we went directly to the municipal level. It is call the municipal festival of talents.
In preparation for this activity, we chose our players for the different categories. We chose to join the Damath for grades one to four, Soduko grades 4 and 6 for the Mathematics event and lastly we joined the dish gardening for the Technolympics event.
Since we joined dish gardening event of course it needs plants and flowers to be used to make a dish gardening entry.
Our school head asked me if I could help him look for flowers that we can use. I am confident to accomplish teh task because I have an aunt who is a certified "plantita" a term we used here in the Philippines to refer to adult women who are fond of collecting and taking care of plants.
So I went to my aunt's house the next morning because she is an LGU employee so I have to go there early or I won't be able to see her and fail my mission, lol!
Yeah, so it was just a 5 minute walk from our house so it's not really far. When I came there, I immediately ask her if I could borrow some of her plants to which she happily said yes.
But before choosing the plants I need to borrow, I looked around her orchidarium. Not really a big orchidarium but there are various kind of orchids in it. I took some photos and was amazed by different colors and kinds of orchids I saw.
You can see in the photos different varieties which I am not really sure of the names because we don't have much orchids in our house.
The colors were really vibrant and the petals are really beautiful.
After looking around the orchidarium I proceeded to the area where mini potted plants are placed. These are the flowers I need, particularly cacti because a dish garden uses a small basin only, small plants are also needed to occupy it.
These are the plants I chose. I am happy our school was happy about my choices of plants, too! although only three of the plants I brought were used because he also got some himself.
This is the layout of the dish garden entry he and our pupil participant created. It's simple but we're confident it can compete with the other school's entry. Last year, we championed this event. Our school head is looking forward to win it again this time.
The next day, we went to the venue of the game and we won the second place for the dish gardening event. Though not the winner, we are happy and proud to our pupil who represented the school. The winner's entry is really beautiful and deserved the win. We thought we will do our best again next time!
Thank you for reading this far! Hope you enjoyed this post. Til my next post.
