Home to some incredibly diverse Hip Hop, Malaysia has always been producing quality Artists and today's feature is, well to put in local terms, same same but different. So without further ado I'd like to introduce you to Aman Ra (formerly known as Kraft)
Meet Aman Ra
I have an interesting perspective to share about today's featured artist in that I've been blessed to see his career blossom over the years. Back when he was known as Kraft he was a fearsome Battle Rapper and loved to Freestyle. When we held our TYGS Rap Battle events in Kuala Lumpur between 2008 and 2014 he was one of the only participants to "retire" undefeated and became a judge on the platform in 2012.
In fact, when Malaysian TV station 8TV called me up to help them put together a Rap Battle for TV, among the 8 Emcees called for the show, Kraft not only took home the title of MVP he also changed his whole image with a name change to Aman Ra.
Aman Ra was on the frontier of bringing Malay language rap to the forefront and he struck a chord with his followers so much that he's made Instagram his home and a place he can interact with his audience of almost 50k followers. He's also dabbled into clothing, with his line Boleh Pergi Mampus and his own record label Keramat Records.
Representing the area known as Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, it's only fair to lace this segment today with one of his most famous neighborhood tributes "Budak Flat" which is still one of his most popular songs. In contrast after this video I'll be showing his latest release (also shot in Keramat) entitled "Malu Tanya Sesat" and I'll close it out with a video of him battling during the 8TV Word program. One!
