Ganoderma lucidum or usually referred to as Lingzhi mushroom is a type of wild wood fungus that spreads in Asia, this fungus usually grows on wood surfaces or on tree trunks, in my area (Aceh) I often see this mushroom growing on areca nut tree trunks.

Based on its classification, we can identify Ganoderma lucidum as a member of the phylum Basidiomycotina with its hard body characteristics, and has a flat surface and wavy edges. If we pay attention, the color of the Lingzhi mushroom looks red with a slightly brownish yellow edge. The shape looks like a semi-circle, with a diameter of 10-20 cm. The thickness of the fruit reaches 3-5 cm, while the body stalk grows between 3-10 cm.

Like mushrooms in general, this Lingzhi mushroom stalk is useful for attaching to the substrate or tree host. While the basidiospores are located on the fruit hood facing downwards. Basidiospores are spores produced by Basidiomycotina fungi through sexual reproduction. The shape is elliptical and has a size of 6-9.5 x 5.7 microns.

I found this mushroom on the trunk of a areca tree that is still alive in my uncle's garden, then I took a picture of it with a different side.

Here are some pictures of lingzhi mushrooms that i have, I hope you all like my pictures below:

Broadly speaking, we can find Ganoderma lucidum species in almost all countries. However, the use of this mushroom seems to be more popular in Asia such as China, Japan and Korea. For the Japanese and Korean people, Lingzhi mushrooms are known by different nicknames. The citizens of Sakura Country know him as "Reishi", while Koreans refer to him as "Yeongji"

In the wild, Lingzhi mushrooms can survive for several years. It also has a spicy, slightly bitter taste, and tends to be warm when we eat it as a snack. The average temperature needed for Lingzhi mushrooms to survive reaches 25-30 degrees Celsius per day. It also requires a high level of humidity between 80-95%.
