Hello, fellow travelers and community members. I was surprised to discover this vast garden right in the center of Mumbai. When we think of Mumbai, we often picture crowded local trains, bustling streets filled with people, street vendors, litter, and slum areas. However, I was amazed to learn that I had never visited this garden and zoo before, even though I lived in Mumbai for several years.
The Jijamata Bhosale Udhyan, formerly known as Victoria Garden and Zoo, is the oldest public garden in Mumbai. After India gained independence, it was named in honor of Jijamata, the mother of Shivaji, the first Maratha emperor. located in Byculla in the heart of Mumbai the zoo and garden of 50 acres is currently managed by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
At the entrance the statue of Jijamata with her son child-Shivaji she was the brave mother who trained Maratha King Shivaji from his childhood. There are many stories and history we learned during our school time.
The huge buildings around this garden are no surprise. This is Mumbai.

the nice fresh air, greenery, cleanliness, and arranged paths doesn't feel like we are in Mumbai.

After passing this area we come to the tiger reserve.
just on the border of a zoo, those huge tall buildings are not a good idea to give a wild atmosphere.

After some refreshments, we started walking to the botanical garden.

when the British made this garden it started as a botanical garden but today I haven't seen any special trees or plants here.
It wasn't really a very special botanical garden.
Special arrangement in a special building for penguins. nice and cool.
After the birds section, we returned to our hotel and planned to walk around the Marine Line after dark. See you in the next post.
