You might wonder why anyone would be interested in such ordinary, mundane things. The answer is simple: what's routine for us can be completely fascinating for someone on the other side of the world.
💡 What "Same But Different" Is About
I'm launching a weekly photographic activity focused on documenting ordinary, everyday objects and items from different corners of the world. This isn't a competition - it's a cultural exchange through photography.
Why Am I Doing This?
- Cultural Diversity: A trash container in Tokyo looks different from one in Prague or Nairobi
- Hidden Beauty: Things we overlook might have fascinating design or history

Here's what you can do: 1. Take a photo of the given object in your city/region 2. Write a short post with the photograph 3. Add cultural context — what’s interesting or unusual about it 4. Use the hashtag #SameButDifferent
What I’m looking for in your posts
✅ A good post includes:
- A high-quality photo (doesn’t have to be professional, but should be clear)
- Localization - city/country
- Cultural context - 2–3 sentences about why the subject is interesting
- Personal perspective - what drew you to the subject
